Edward wasnt always this considerate, most of the time he was selfish and in a way him being there was due to his selfishness. He knew in the long run this would hurt Damienne, but he was happy for now and he wanted that happiness for now at least... 'Another nickname hmmm... 'Ami?' he screwed his face a little, that sounded too close to Damie 'If I mix the letters around it could be Mia.' That sounded nicer at least, definatly not a cursing word, though not taken directly from her name. He sighed softly as she asked if Edward would follow the lamb 'Yes... If the lamb lost her way' He commented softly, at the moment he would happily follow Damienne where ever she went... He didnt want to take his eyes off her for a second, yet he knew that wouldnt always be possible. He chuckled to himself, so she thought he was being cute... Edward had never considered himself cute before, far from it in fact.
He continued to watch her play with her hair, she was the one being cute, not him. 'I hope not...' He whispered gently 'I dont want you to ever be scared...' He cringed slightly as he thought how one day she would probably be scared of him but he shook that thought from his head. It was slightly worrying how quickly she had become attached to him and how quickly he had become attached to her too. Her heartbeat had increased, he could hear it and it amused him slightly her words made him swell with a feeling of happiness that he hadnt felt in such a long time. 'What a silly little lamb...' He jested chuckling, if only she knew how true that was... If they werent careful the lamb would end up being the lions dinner, such a strange yet fitting metaphor. He only hoped that wouldnt happen. He cursed himself again for thinking such negative thoughts.
He smiled as he heard her battling herself to kiss him. She was trying to be bold and make a first move, but not quite managing it. He wouldnt leave if she tried to kiss him, but he wasnt going to force a kiss on her, he would let her come out of her shell in her own time. He smirked as she said she didnt know, he knew she was starting to get tired, of course he wasnt, he never got tired. However fragile humans did and he wouldnt want to keep her up too late. He tilted his head slightly hearing her thought on how she didnt want to go to bed if it meant leaving his side... 'You know we are going to have a long day tomorrow...' He commented softly as she ran her fingers through his hair. He smiled 'You will need all your strength if your going to help protect me against the pink and fluffiness that has become my house...' He chuckled gently wrapping his arm back around her.
He lifted her up swiftly and effortlessly, he knew she would be reluctant to go to bed, but if he took her himself she couldnt object 'Your tired... I can see it in your eyes...' He turned and slowly started to head up the stairs, already knowing where her room was from the other day. He made sure he made little noise, not wanting to disturb the others, this was the last thing he wanted them seeing. Once in her room he gently laid her on the bed and kissed her forehead lightly kneeling down beside it. Humans, so fragile, he sighed out of habit. He knew Damienne was going to protest if he left her now, he stood and made his way around to the sofabed, sitting down and watching her smiling 'I hope I'm not going to get any protests from you hmm?' He chuckled gently as he laid down watching her. He would leave if she asked him, he knew she wouldnt.

Damienne smiled as she watched Edward think up a new nickname for her. His face was a picture. Ami, his first idea, clearly didn't sound that good to him. “Mia...” she whispered. She smiled softly as she looked up at him. She liked the sound of that. It was a nicer sounding name and it was nice and simple. Maybe that was what made it sound nicer, that and it didn't sound like a curse word...and Edward had given her it. She laughed lightly to herself for a moment. “Okay, so...I'm your Mia Lamb,” she said in a gentle tone, a small smile still lighting up her features. “Only you can call me Mia,” she said, making it official with a quick nod. She was more than just a little happy with the name. She smiled when he said that yes, Edward would follow the lamb...if she lost her way. She laughed softly. “Sounds like Edward's gonna have a lot of following to do,” she muttered, still in the innocent tone. “Is he really ready for that?” she questioned, innocent tone still not fading from her voice.
She held her breath as he whispered. She didn't want to miss a word he was saying. She chewed on her lip as she listened to him. She finally took a breath when she smiled at his words about the 'silly little lamb'. 'Maybe I am, but at least I'm not the masochist in this situation...a lion falling in love with the lamb...' she thought, holding his gaze, disrupting herself. 'What are the odds...?' she finished in her head, letting out a soft sigh. She cast her eyes away from Edward again when she couldn't find clever words for a response. Maybe she was too tired. How could she be too tired to express herself? She shook her head slightly before lifting her eyes to his again, a tired smile on her face. She blinked slowly as she tried to fight off the sleep, her head on Edward's shoulder, her fingers laced into the ever so soft hair on the nape of his neck. “A long day?” she mumbled. Did this mean they had to get up early? Here she was wasting time with Edward when they would have to be at the Cullens' early?
She laughed softly when he commented about her protecting him from the pink and fluffy. Then, she remembered something she was going to tell him earlier in the evening. “Oh, I think Alice will be happily,” she said, yawning again and nuzzling closer to Edward. “I found something pink to wear...” she added in almost a whisper. Tiredness really was starting to take over now. 'Stupid...need...to...sleep...' she thought. She felt Edward lifting her up and she didn't even need to wrap her other arm around him. She felt pretty certain he could hold her up, which was a little strange. She never really trusted anyone picking her up. “I'm sorry,” she said softly in an almost childlike voice. She blinked slowly, only half seeing the surroundings before realising they were in her room and he was lying her on her bed. She blinked furiously a few times as he kissed her forehead, feeling the skin tingle at the contact. She couldn't go to sleep yet. “Edward...” she whispered, watching him through half covered eyes as he moved to the sofa bed.
She pointed lazily in the direction of the sofa bad. “You don't have to leave it as the sofa...y'know...” she said, yawning again. It was surprising how quickly tiredness could catch up with her some days. Maybe it was due to the lack of sleep the night before. It couldn't be THAT late surely. She slowly shook her head when he questioned her protesting, lazily reaching for the thrown back covers and slowly tugging them over herself. She wasn't even cold. It was just force of habit. “I do have one...request though,” she began, really struggling to keep her eyes open now. She took a breath, trying to wake herself up to say the last thing she needed to say. “Would you play the piano for me? Just for me?” she questioned, trying to focus on him. “I don't mean like tomorrow or anything...but one day...please...Edward...” she finished, not even managing to stay awake to hear his answer. Maybe him being around wasn't that bad an idea towards her getting a better night's sleep after all.

Edward watched as Damienne considered her new nickname suggestions, a smile spread across his lips as she smiled and looked up to him. It seemed like he had come up with an acceptable alternative to Damie. He chuckled gently as she said she was his Mia Lamb and that only he could call her Mia. 'I'm honoured...' He said softly, only a few days of knowing each other and already he had his own special nickname for her... 'My little lamb...' He sighed gently 'As ready as I will ever be' He chuckled and looked into her eyes, she was so gentle and niave, how could he not want to protect her? His little lamb lost in the world of wolves... So sweet and innocent, in need of protection and guidence... Then again was it really the Lions job to do that? Or would he simply lead her further astray? It was certainly a thought that bothered him greatly, and it was one that would always be at the back of his mind.
He sighed gently at her thoughts, if she knew how true they really were then she wouldnt be so light hearted about it all. He had lost track of time and he often forgot that humans needed things he didnt. He could tell now that she was starting to get tired, Jason and Dorian had retired a while ago now and it had been an exciting day for Damienne. He chuckled lightly as she mumbled about having a long day the next day 'Dont worry you wont have to get up too early... Its just going to be very busy.' He was still dreading her meeting his family, but the way things were at the moment he needed a little strength to be able to get through the day... Damienne was that strength. 'And with my family... Especially Alice, you need a lot of energy' He chuckled gently, he knew this was going to be hard for Jasper to have both Fae and Damienne there, but he had faith that Alice could keep him in check.
He held Damienne close to him and smiled as she yawned and started to tell him how she had found something pink to wear for the party. 'She will be thrilled with that news' He chuckled, he certainly wasnt going to change into anything pink... Not even for Alice. He had some pride in him still. He lifted her as if she was no heavier than a feather filled pillow. Walking with not the slightest encumberance, not that she would notice, she was far too sleepy. 'Its okay... Its my fault for letting you stay up so late' He chuckled gently as he laid her on the bed, watching her. He smiled as she said his name, she looked so peaceful lying there... He laid down on the couch watching her, knowing it wouldnt take long for her to fall asleep.
He chuckled 'Its fine the way it is...' He replied gently, after all it wasnt like he was going to actually sleep on it. He tilted his head slightly as she tucked herself in and said she had a request 'Hmm?' he questioned softly. He sighed at her words, it had been a long time since he had played the piano. He had stopped because he just didnt feel the inspiration, the mood to actually compose and play. 'One day...' He said softly, he smiled realising she had slipped into sleep, he was going to stay there watching over her that night. He was interested in her thoughts and dreams, that and there was something so calming about her sleeping. He had a lot of time on his hands to think... But watching her he found it hard to imagine a life without her being a part of it now. The Lion most undoubtably was madly in love with the lamb.

Damienne smiled gently, wrinkling up her nose for a moment as he said he was honoured. She sighed gently, heading resting on his shoulder when he said her title again. “Mia...piccolo agnello...” she muttered against his neck. It wasn't exactly the perfect Italian, but it fit with the Mia name Edward had given her. She nuzzled her face against his neck again when he said he was as ready as he'd ever be for following his lamb. She smiled weakly when she didn't have to be up early. That probably wouldn't stop her though. She was used to getting up early for school and sometimes it translated over to her weekends. She nodded when he said it was going to be busy. It was certainly going to be busy for her. She had to meet the rest of Edward's family. Butterflies fluttered around her stomach for a moment at the thought of it. They couldn't know about...THIS little exchange, not yet. She wasn't sure she was ready for yet more teasing and knowing looks exchanged between parents.
She did want to be with Edward, more than she imagined she should, but she didn't think it would be wise for everyone else to be in on it just yet. On the other hand, she wanted everyone to know. She shook herself mentally. There was no point thinking and worrying about it now. She nodded again when Edward said Alice would be happy with the fact she'd found something pink. “Am not sure...I'll like it, but...it will keep Alice happy, right?” she questioned softly. She shook her head as best she could whilst still fighting the sleep. “You didn't let me stay up late...I wanted to stay up...with you,” she said gently, yawning again. She shuffled about under the covers, lowering them so they only really covered her lower half. She never really slept properly and because of the nightmare, she'd turned into a fidget anyway. She brought one hand up to rest on the pillow beside her head, the other resting over her stomach. She kind of wished she'd managed to stay awake long enough to hear his reply, but the darkness of sleep took over instantaneously.
The images that started felt like a dream to begin with. They were bright and colourful. Damienne was happy, bouncing around the house. “Edward's here,” her father called, making the butterflies flutter furiously through her insides. “Give me a minute,” she called, slipping her feet into her shoes and grabbing her jacket. She pulled on her jacket as she bounced out of her room and down the stairs, smiling broadly down at the awaiting Edward. He was just as perfect as he always was. “Ready?” he asked in his silky voice, offering her a hand. She nodded excitedly, still grinning, lacing her hand into his and following him out of the house. “Bye dad,” she called as she closed the door and continued to follow Edward. She wanted out. They were going out for something to eat again, just like they had done the night before...wait... The night before hadn't ended all too well for certain people. Damienne scowled, shifting around a little at this thought. Was this going to be another nightmare?
As they walked down the path and reached the car, it was empty. Wasn't Alice there the day before? Maybe it wasn't going to be a nightmare after all...Edward held open her door for her, helping her into the front passenger seat. She shuffled, getting comfortable in the seat as Edward got into the driver's seat. The scowl that had shaped her face before now faded. She giggled softly as Edward put the car into drive and they headed towards their destination. A small smile curled the corners of her lips up for a moment before she swallowed and her expression neutralised again. They arrived quicker than they would have had she been driving...and she thought she was fast. Edward seemed to be a lot more confident in his ways with his car. She waited for him to open the door like she knew he would want to, jumping out of the car with a grin. She followed him into the café, her fingers interlaced with his. She bit her lip... in the real world too ...releasing it quickly again as she looked around the quiet place.
They didn't even do much really. They simply sat in a quiet booth, enjoying each other's company, holding each other's hands across the table. They didn't order any food or any drinks for that matter. They just sort of spent the time together. It was simple It was nice. She smiled briefly again before her dream made her scowl and shift uncomfortably again. Her phone rang in her pocket. She wasn't even aware it was there. She read the display, shrugging at Edward, mouthing the words 'my dad'. She pressed the green button as she brought the phone to her ear. “Hel...” she began, not even having time to finish her greeting. “You need to come home...” her father rasped. “Now...” he said in a panic before the line went dead. “Dad...?” she whispered to herself, lowering the phone again and glancing to Edward. The hand that had rested lazily palm up beside her head now twisted and grabbed the pillow as she shifted a little more. This definitely wasn't right. There was going to be trouble, wasn't there?
She blinked, only to find them outside her house again in the second she opened her eyes. “Stay here,” Edward whispered before stalking off into the house. Damienne's eyes searched the darkness of the house. It was quiet, too quiet, and the door had been opened when they had appeared there. That was when she noticed the blood and the claw marks that ran down the door, which was only hanging off of one hinge. She gasped, struggling to breath for a moment, scowl set deeply into her features now as she shifted her head a little. She stepped inside the house, eyes adjusting quickly to take in the trails of blood and claw marks that lined the walls. “Edward...” she whispered... mouthing it in her sleep. She traced her fingers over the closest set of marks, the blood wet beneath her fingers. “Damienne,” a voice snarled behind her, a low growl following the word. She gasped again. She spun around to see her brother Tobias standing there, covered in blood, his clothes torn. “Tobi...” she whispered.
Tobias smirked cruelly at her, head tilted in a slightly sinister way. “Tobi's not here,” he said, snarling again. “Stop...” she whispered, shifting again, the fingertips on her hand over her stomach digging in slightly, her grip tightening on her pillow. “What d'ya want?” she asked as she tried to maintain a steady focus on the person that looked like her brother, but claimed he wasn't. “You need to come home, Damienne,” he said, his voice dripping with sinister intent. “We're waiting,” he added as he took a step towards her. This wasn't like the nightmare of the night before. This was more of a sick and sinister game to Tobias this time. She was shaking, but she still couldn't wake herself up. “What are you talking about?” she questioned weakly. 'Tobias' smirked and she really didn't like that look on his face. “I've come to take you home. You're one of us. You shouldn't be here,” he taunted. “Nobody wants you,” he continued as he took another step forwards. “No...” she muttered weakly.
He tilted his head and looked at her, eyeing her like she was something to eat. “If you won't come when I ask...” he began, eyes slowly making their way to her face. “...then I'll just have to take you by force,” he added, in a still quite taunting tone. “What reason do you have to stay here? Edward? He'll leave you. Everyone will leave you,” he went on. She whimpered, a single tear falling down onto her pillow. “No, he won't,” she replied, face scrunched up in a grimace at her 'brother's' words. “He wants to protect me...” she added, her voice breaking a little. Tobias laughed, almost cackled at her words, a broad sinister grin remaining on his face. “Let's see him protect you now,” he whispered maliciously. He growled before falling down onto all fours, phasing the second before his hands, now massive paws, hit the floor. She shook her head, whimpering “no”. She watched the wolf before her as he looked up at her, evil intent blatantly obvious in his eyes.
One pair of familiar brown eyes looked at her, but that wasn't Tobias standing before her, not anymore. She slowly began to back away, only to find herself backed up against a wall. She slowly shook her head as the wolf shifted towards her. She swallowed, tensing, waiting for the worst to happen. It was then that Edward came running in, standing in front of her as the wolf pounced straight towards them...towards Edward, her protector. “EDWARD!” she shouted, sitting bolt upright, tears and a cold sweat running down her face and over her skin. She swallowed, trying to catch her breath again as she squeezed her eyes shut for a moment. She snapped them open, looking towards Edward. He was still there. Why was she so panicked? It had felt so damn real. She hoped she hadn't really shouted loud enough to catch anyone's attention. The walls were pretty well soundproofed in this place thankfully. She brought her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. She pressed her face into her knees and sobbed quietly. 'Another stupid nightmare...'

Edward had enjoyed the night and Damienne had saved him from the terror that was Alice's over enthusiasm. Though there would be no escaping it tomorrow, at least Damienne would be there to help shield him from the blow. He knew Damienne would enjoy herself, Alice would make sure of that. He knew she would make Damienne feel as comfortable as possible... in her own little Alice way. His relationship with Damienne was important to Alice, it seemed to be one of the only things that was cheering her up at the moment, something she was looking forward to rather that dreading. He chuckled as she said that she wanted to stay up with him 'I'm not going to dissappear on you...' Not just yet anyway, he sighed gently, he would have to if he ever put her in danger... He hoped it wouldnt come to that any time soon, he didnt want to hurt her. It pained him to think of ever hurting Damienne...
He watched her drift off to sleep, he sat up and watched her, as with any sleep it took a while before she entered REM and started dreaming, though as soon as she did Edward could see exactly what she was seeing. His eyebrow raised a little, she was dreaming about him... Though he didnt know why he was so suprised, he watched every movement from her, she was unsettled in her sleep and nothing had even happened yet. Though as the dream started to change Edward found himself moving to sit on the edge of her bed and a soft growl left his throat... Tobias... He knew it was him that was causing the nightmares. As Damienne called out in her sleep Edward reached out gently and rested a hand on her arm, frowning at what he was seeing. His muscles tensed as the Tobias in her dream told her that he was going to leave her. He gritted his teeth, angered that Damienne was going through this.
Edward was upset by what he was seeing, as the tear rolled down her cheek 'Mia...' He said softly, a frown frowming in his chiselled features. He watched as Tobias changed in her dream, well Edward had the advantage that he knew what Tobias looked now. He saw as his dream self jumped infront of Damienne as Tobias lunged, hearing her shout his name as she suddenly sat bolt upright. 'Shhh Mia... I'm here...' He said softly moving closer and wrapping his arms around her. He held her and let her sob 'Its okay...' His voice faultered a little, no one deserved to have nightmares like that. How could you do that to your own family. He gently rocked her body, holding her close.
After a while he reached and lifted her head slowly, his eyes looked into hers, saddened by what he had witnessed. He gently laid back down on the bed, pulling her gently with him so she was lying in his arms on her bed. 'I'm sorry... It seems I couldnt chase your nightmares away...' He said softly. He hoped though he could help keep Tobias at bay in the real world. He didnt want Damienne to worry about him though, if Tobias wanted a fight then Edward would give him one and Edward wasnt going to let him get away lightly. 'Come now... I'm here, try and get some sleep...' He didnt know what time it was, but he knew that Damienne would need to sleep some more. He reached down and pulled the covers over them, knowing she would need the warmth cuddled up to him. He hoped now that she could sleep in peace...

Damienne sighed softly at Edward's words. He wasn't going to disappear. This still didn't seem to chase of the impending nightmare. Was she just not believing his words enough? As she shifted around, she felt a cold tingle in her arm. Edward was still there, yet she was still in disbelief, letting the stupid nightmare talk her down. She tried to fight herself to wake up, wriggling about more, her hand on her stomach moving to the bed and clamping her fingers around the covers. She sat up quickly, head spinning, gasping for air. Even as she pulled her legs to her, she heard Edward's soft words. She clamped her eyes shut once more before slowly blinking them open. He was still there. He wasn't going anywhere. Tobias wasn't there. He couldn't get Edward. She wouldn't let him. She shifted onto her knees as best she could considering how tangled her legs were in the covers, as he wrapped his arms around her, wrapping her own around him and burying her face into his shoulder as she continued to cry.
'He's still here...' she reminded herself. 'He's got you...just breath...' she continued, letting out a slow, shaky breath before taking one back in in a similar manner. “Edward...” she whispered against his neck, tightening her grip around him allowing him to rock them both slightly. It was so comforting. She finally began to calm down as he reached to her and lifted her head to look at him. She sat back on her feet, her arms unwrapping from around him and falling down into her lap. “I'm sorry...” she muttered in a barely audible voice. Her hands found his chest again as she laid down, pulling her with him. She wrinkled up her nose, nuzzling against his chest when he apologised for not being able to chase the nightmares away. “It's not your fault...I should have...believed you more...” she admitted, breath still shaking from the shock of what she'd just put herself through. Her fingers curled around a handful of his shirt as she moved closer to him, her bare legs brushing against the side of his still jeans covered ones.
“Have you even been to sleep?” she questioned in a low, gentle whisper, closing her eyes as she tried to breath calmly, smelling how good he smelt every time she inhaled. She tilted her head, opening her eyes as she looked up at him from where she lay against him. She smiled softly at his words. Surely she had to believe him now. She had woken from the nightmare only to find herself in his arms. He was there. She shuffled up slightly to kissed the edge of his jaw, just below his ear. That was all she could reach from that angle. “Thank you...” she whispered into his ear before shuffling back down to snuggle against him, her head and her arm resting on his chest, her fingers still curled around a handful of his shirt. “You need...to sleep too...” she said softly, yawning once again. She was actually going to make it back to sleep tonight? That hadn't happened yesterday, which was probably why she felt so damn tired now. “Did you answer my question before?” she wondered, having fallen asleep whilst she had spoken last time.

Edward rocked her gently, just letting her know he was there 'There is no need to apologise...'It wasnt her fault her brother was being a total jerk... He was starting to look forward to confronting him and showing him that he wasnt going to let him push Damienne around anymore. Damienne didnt deserve this, he wanted to free her from her family... But what then? If he freed her from the wolves he would only be drawing her into an even worse fate. He sighed softly trying to calm her, his hand gently stroked up and down her back trying to stop her racing heart and shaking. He listened in to the other people in the house, he had heard some stirring, but no one awoke, for which he was glad. He didnt really want them to hear her calling out his name and finding him there in the room with her. It would have been awkward...
He nodded slowly 'A little... Dont worry about me' He smirked'I am used to having little sleep' Or as it happened to be, none at all. He was glad at least his clothes would keep most of the chill from her bare skin, not wanting her to freeze to death in her sleep because of him. He looked into her eyes and smiled gently, returning a kiss on her forehead 'No need to thank me little Mia' He smiled warmly to her 'I will sleep too...' he reached and ran his fingers through her hair 'Just try and get some more sleep okay?' He hoped that his presence there would help her relax and sleep, he also hoped he could help chase the nightmares away this time. Though he was rather keen to not let Jason or Dorian know he had spent the night in her bed... Dressed or not.
He chuckled as she asked if he had answered her question, she had obviously fallen asleep before he had answered 'One day Mia... One day I will play for you' He sighed gently. He knew Esme missed his music, Rosalie was good, as was Alice but Edward really used to put his spirit into it. He would compose music to mirror his thoughts and feelings, but he hadnt touched the piano for a very long time. Perhaps Damienne would give him the drive to create something... He would have to wait and see. 'Now I have answered your question are you going to try and sleep?' He teased gently 'I will stay here... dont worry' He whispered as he wrapped his arm back around her in a reassuring manner.
