Damienne smiled at Edward's words. “Afraid you'll lose?” she questioned with a slight taunting tone. It would be quite funny to see how long they could actually keep the little teasing game going on. It was quite entertaining now that she was getting the hang of it. She mirrored his actions, crossing her arms over her chest. “That would be the gentleman's way out,” she observed with a smile. Somehow, she wanted to believe that if he did stay in her room, she wouldn't have that damn nightmare again. That was the main thing on her mind. She didn't really know how to be around guys. She'd never had this much of an interest in one. She'd only ever hugged her guy friends and never thought anything beyond that. Edward just seemed to have the ability to bring out something new about her. She chewed her lip as she looked up at Edward when he made his comment. “Oh, no, I imagine your first thought about how 'bold' and 'brave' I was was right,” she began in reply. “I'm just getting 'bolder' and 'braver',” she added before she'd even thought about it.
She hoped she could keep this up. They seemed to be getting on a little better if she tried this approach instead of over thinking and stammering over her words. She smiled when he agreed with her about him having the more amicable family. “You all seem to be able to stay level headed...from what I saw yesterday,” she replied, uncrossing her arms now, one hand falling to her side, the other reaching up to run her fingertips over her bottom lip in thought. 'If Edward hadn't have been there, would the nightmares be worse?' she wondered to herself, chewing on the inside of her lip again. She smiled, lowering her hand as Edward spoke. “Again, they're parents. It's in the job description,” she replied softly, still smiling. She chuckled lightly about Edward's words regarding imperfection making the world more interesting. “You're not wrong,” she said in a low tone. The imperfection of her family made things a little more than interesting. Some days, she just wished she didn't have to deal with that. She would take on anything, but that.
She crossed her arms again, one hand running up and down her opposite upper arm. “I felt like I couldn't stop myself apologising that time...” she began softly. “You shouldn't have to live with them, if they put that look on your face...” she went on before looking to the floor. Hopefully, she wouldn't put her foot in it again. She didn't want to be unable to talk about stuff like that, but she didn't want to see that look on Edward's face again. It really was heartbreaking to see that look on his face. 'Stupid...' she hissed in her head as she reached up, closing her eyes and rubbing her forehead. She lowered her hand again, opening her eyes as Edward spoke. She smiled, laughing lightly. “That you do,” she began, still laughing. “Some skill,” she added with a nod. Focusing on the television was kind of difficult. Despite how much she was trying to pay attention, she would either be fighting looking at Edward or thinking about him. She half glanced at him again as he grabbed a cushion, hugging it.
She smiled softly, but didn't say a word before looking back to the television. It was cute the way he was holding the cushion. Her smile slowly faded again. She felt eyes on her and then turned to Edward. She couldn't help, but smile at him now. “What?” she questioned in a soft whisper. She didn't know why she had whispered. It seemed she wasn't able to put any volume behind her voice. She watched him as he bite his lip, pushing the cushion aside again, feeling her smile broadening. That was cute as well. Her finger slid down her cheek, curling under her chin, drawing in a sharp breath as she continued to watch him shuffling closer to her. She mirrored his shy smile as he put his arms over the back of the couch. This felt more comfortable than sitting either ends of the couch. She shifted, crossed her legs Indian style on the seat, dropping back against the back of the sofa, one arm resting across her stomach, the other hand reaching up to run her fingertips over her bottom lip nervously again, refocusing on the television.
'Should I suggest something else?' she thought to herself. Suggesting something else only felt like a partial option now. If she did, he'd move and she felt more comfortable sat here now than she did before. She swallowed. 'I won't suggest anything else. Just watch the film, Damienne,' she told herself. She didn't want him to move, so she could suggest anything else. Even if he didn't move, she would have to. She let out a breath, closing her eyes and shaking her head slightly. She was over thinking again. She took in a breath again, letting it out quickly. 'That's right, don't forget to breath,' she thought sarcastically as she opened her eyes again. Something made her want to look at Edward again. 'Don't you dare,' she thought, letting out a soft sigh. Either the film had to end sooner or Dorian would have to learn to drive quicker. She didn't want to have to move away from Edward, but at the same time, she wasn't sure she could stand to sit in silence. It wasn't that she was uncomfortable now. She just wanted to hear him talk.

Edward simply shook his head 'You really dont know me very well Miss Renton, I am very stubborn... Or so my family tells me.' His stubborness has indeed been the centre of a lot of family tensions, ge didnt doubt that Damienne was going to cause a lot of tension in the household, but his stubborness and selfishness wanted and needed her right now. 'I may be stubborn... But I am most certainly a gentleman' he chuckled 'At least I like to think so...' Her thoughts amused him, after all he felt the same, he had never had an interest in girls, much to Tanya and Rosalie's dismay, though Rosalie was more to the fact that she thought EVERY guy had an interest in her... Everyone except Edward that is... He tilted his head slightly 'And what pray tell is making you braver and bolder?' He smirked slightly curious to what the answer was.
The Cullens had been through a lot together, Carlisle was always the calm and collected one. Edward had learned that when ever he didnt know what to do he should ask Carlisle. 'We have a lot of experience in difficult situations... Carlisle more so than us, goes with the territory I guess.' Of course he meant the territory of being a vampire, but he knew Damienne wouldnt get that. Though she would probably twist it to fit its own meaning. A slight frown graced his forehead as she thought about her nightmare, though he didnt have long to dwell on it before she spoke again. He chuckled 'Job description hmm? Interesting thought...' He guessed that really fit Esme and Edward, after all they really werent his parents, keeping them together was more of a job than a relation... Though he could not wish for better parents.
'Everyone has bad memories they would raher forget Damienne... They are no one elses fault.' He didnt really want to linger on the thoughts for too long, after all he didnt like Damienne feeling so uncomfortable. He chuckled lightly as she said he did have a gift for making her blush... He knew he had strange effects on girls, though never had he ever been interested in any of the girls, until Damienne. A small smile creeped across his lips as he heard her think that he looked cute, probably not as cute as she would look. As Damienne asked what he was looking at her for he shrugged slightly and whispered back 'Is it a crime to watch a beautiful girl like you?' God that was corny... He looked back to the tv and tried again to concentrate on something other than Damienne and her scent.
As they relaxed more on the couch he considered her thoughts, perhaps he should put her out of her misery... 'It seems these half naked men dont seem to be holding your attention...' He chuckled lightly knowing why they werent... 'Perhaps there is something that would hmm?' He asked curiously, the tips of his fingers stroked the fabric of the couch gently as his gaze returned to her... Though he had a feeling she would say she was fine... It was worth a shot though. He was hoping for more time before Dorian appeared... He wasnt exactly looking forward to that part of the night at all...

Damienne watched Edward closely as he spoke. “There's still time for that,” she replied to his comment about her not knowing him very well. “I only met you...what? Two days ago? Not even that?” she went on in question. “You seem like you could be pretty stubborn,” she said, considering his instructions yesterday. “But, sometimes, that helps,” she added with a smile. It had helped yesterday. “And I can be just as bad,” she offered, shrugging slightly. She had to be sometimes with her family. It was the only way to be heard sometimes. She chuckled lightly at his words about being a gentleman. “You think you're a gentleman, despite being stubborn, yet...you think you wouldn't be a gentleman if you stay in my room?” she questioned with a cheeky smirk. Arms crossed over her chest, she contemplated how to respond to his question as to what was making her braver and bolder. “I'm just trying to stop embarrassing myself,” she answered calmly and honestly. That was the only response she could think of.
She listened intently as Edward spoke. She nodded slowly, considering his words. She didn't really know what to say. It was one of those things that didn't really need a response other than a friendly nod and she'd covered that. She noticed the scowl on his face for a brief moment before she distracted him by speaking again. She smiled, laughing briefly at his words. “Being a parent is like having another job. That's what dad always says. It can vary between being enjoyable and just being a chore,” she offered, nodding slowly. “Though, I think it's less of a chore now because I don't start fights with him,” she added, thinking about Tobias and James and how they had been growing up. The others had been argumentative as well, but those too more so. Eyes lowered, she nodded slowly as Edward spoke. “You're right...again,” she replied softly, looking at him through her eyelashes. He was smart, maybe too smart. It made her feel kind of inadequate being around him, though she couldn't stay away.
She was thankful that her admittance to his ability to make her blush entertained Edward so much. She shook her head at him as he chuckled about it. She felt her jaw drop slightly as he replied in a whisper. She smiled nervously, flattered as she was. She looked away again, repeating his words in her head. “I think it's a crime that you describe me that way,” she offered, only just finding her voice. She was flattered by his words, she couldn't deny that, but she couldn't agree with the description either. She chewed on her lip for a moment before turning to him and saying very softly, “But thank you.” She smiled softly, turning back to watch the television again. She tried to keep focused on the television as Edward spoke. 'No, they really aren't when you're sat there,' she thought. 'There's no competition there,' she added, chewing on the inside of her lip to stop her smirk. She burst out a small spurt of laughter at Edward's suggestion of maybe doing something else, clamping her hand over her mouth.
She tried to cover it up by clearing her throat and coughing. “Ummm, not they're not, but it's fine. This film was your choice,” she responded softly. “The only other thing I could think of doing is playing video games,” she added softly. She could think of other things to do like spending the time before Dorian arrived just talking to Edward, for example. That was if she could find the words. She needed something in the background going on to give her the confidence to speak though, it would seem. She knew full well if she'd have just put the stereo on, something at some point would have come on and embarrassed the hell out of her or something. She reached forwards as best she could and grabbed her soda, leaning back again. She took a long drink, draining the glass. She leant forward again, putting the glass on the table. She slowly leant back again, slouching a little more to rest her head against the back of the couch. She felt Edward's arm under her head, lifting it quickly. “Sorry,” she apologised quickly.

What Damienne said was true, they had infact only known each other a couple of days, however Edward got to know people faster, being able to see what they were thinking meant he got to see the real person behind the face far quicker than anyone else. He chuckled lightly as she said she could be just as bad 'Oh I really doubt that Miss Renton' After all he had been stubborn for over a hundred years... He had a lot more practice at it. 'No one said you cant be a gentleman but be stubborn as well' He smirked 'Its not 'proper' for a man to stay in a ladies room... Especially since as you pointed out... We've only known each other a couple of days.' A soft chuckle escaped his lips as she said she was trying to stop embarassing herself infront of him 'So how is that working for you?' He rather liked it, the red on her cheeks were rather cute, at least he thought so. Then again he also liked this playful Damienne that was starting to emerge.
Edward simply shook his head as she said it was a crime that he described her that way 'Its now a crime to tell the truth? Your morals are very strange Miss Renton. First you invite a man you hardly know to sleep in your room and then accuse him of committing a crime when all he is doing is telling a truth...' He chuckled lightly 'You really are a strange one...So what if I did something really naughty? What then Miss Renton?' He turned to face her fully leaning a little closer, his eyes looking directly into hers. He was only teasing her, though he was interested to see how she would react to the situation. His head tilted slighty, questioningly, daring her to reply. He moved closer again until their faces were meer inches away, he scent playing dangerously with his senses. That playful smirk played across his lips again... He had never played so dangerously with a humans life like this, and a huge part of him was telling him to run as fast as he could... The other was only drawing him in closer...
He remained close to her as she suggested playing video games and he chuckled slightly 'I think we are already playing games arent we?' He jested playfully. He watched as she reached for her drink and smirked as she leaned back against his arm. In a moment he had curled it around her and brought her back close to him, looking straight into her eyes, he could feel her warm breath against his ice cold skin. The electricity that seemed to surround them almost seemed visible as the air seemed to thicken around them. His eyes searched hers for any emotion, listening to her thoughts every step of the way, he didnt want to over step his boundry, although the monster inside was telling him to. 'Hmm' He Sighed 'What to do with you now Miss Renton...' He only hoped she wouldnt notice how cold he still was, being this close to her though she was bound to notice at some point.

Damienne smirked when Edward expressed his doubts about her being just as bad. She would let that would slide for now. “If you say so,” she replied softly before he spoke again. She smirked as he spoke. “I understand that part,” she began in reply before listening to what else he had to say. Her smiled broadened when Edward said it wasn't 'proper' arrangements, her suggestion of him staying in her room. “Well, aren't you nice and proper?” she questioned rhetorically in a soft tone, still smiling. It was good to know. No worries about him being alone with her for long periods of time. “I'm not sure,” she began to reply to his question about how her new found boldness and braveness was working out for her. “What do you think?” she questioned with a smirk. She watched Edward closely, listening intently as he spoke now. “No, it's not a crime to tell the truth. I just don't think that is the truth, but it's your opinion, so it's your truth,” she replied to begin with. “And I invited a friend to sleep in my room, the male factor didn't come into that decision,” she continued.
“Clearly, someone was looking too far into that,” she added with a smirk. She narrowed her eyes at him when he asked what would happen if he did something really naughty. The way he spoke both confused and intrigued her. 'Naughty?' she thought to herself just before he moved closer. She withdrew a sharp breath when she became more aware of how close he was. She chewed on the inside of her lip as he tilted his head a little. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest. How was she supposed to react to that without stammering like a total idiot? He was so close to her now. “Because moving closer is 'really naughty',” she said in a very gentle, yet sarcastic tone, just above a whisper, dazed by his closeness, but trying to stop herself from stammering. She had spoken before she thought. That seemed to work better. She continued to chew on the inside of her lip as her eyes searched his face when he questioned the fact that they were already playing games, weren't they? This brought a smirk to her lips again.
He seemed completely entertained by his own words, but that could have just been her being hopeful. “Fun though, aren't they?” she questioned, still smirking. She would hoping they wouldn't stop either. They were fun for her and they seemed to amuse Edward, but she couldn't tell for what reason. She hoped it was more than just because he kept making her blush. She could feel his eyes on her as she moved for her glass and sat back. She had thought he'd just smile in that polite way when she apologised, but he didn't. He did something completely new. She felt her skin tingle as he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to him again, looking her right in the eyes. She swallowed hard. 'Oh, gosh...' she thought absently to herself, not even sure if she had just thought it or whispered it as well. A shiver ran down her spine when he wondered what to do with her now. She chewed on her lip as she adjusted how she was sat, shifting her legs so that she was sat on her feet, as before, but this time facing Edward. “I have no idea. What would you suggest?” she questioned.

'I certainly like to think I am yes' He smirked, Carlisle had always mentioned how he acted very old fashioned, though Carlisle did too at times, it was all part of being a hundred years old... Born in a time when things were very different to how they were today. He chuckled lightly as she said she wasnt sure how her new boldness was working for her. 'I think it suits you Miss Renton... Though try not to get too bold, that just might encourage me...' He felt a soft rumble in his throat though he managed to surpress it, she really was being too tempting for her own good right now... Of course Damienne's reactions were fairly normal for this day and age, an age where girls and guys could simply just be good friends but still hug and share all the priviledges a female friend had... 'Still, a friend you barely know... Am I correct?' Friend or no friend, they were still practically strangers, Edward knew far more about Damienne than she certainly knew about him. He had the advantage of knowing her Shapeshifter background... And being able to read minds...
'You really think so? You dont think its in the least bit backwards?' The sound of her heart beat racing as he brought her closer excited him in a strange way. It was him causing her heart to race so, well that and his vampiric aura that just made humans powerless against him. He chuckled lightly 'Oh Damienne you REALLY shouldnt tempt me like that... You never know what I may do, after all you barely know me...' She certainly seemed to be enjoying these games they were playing, he had certainly never played this kind of game before. He was playing with fire, or more accurately her life, yet she seemed quite happy to play along. Though granted, she didnt know she was so dangerously feeding the flames with fuel... Poor, naive humans, though Damienne was certainly more knowledgable about the odd things the world held, unlike most humans. He wondered what would happen when she found out the truth? Would she be scared? He hoped for her sake that she would be.
He chuckled lightly as she said the games they were playing were fun 'Hmm yes I certainly could say they are... Though I do have a certain tendancy to win a lot of games...' Of course being able to see his opponents next move through their thoughts always helped him win games... Its one of the reasons Alice didnt often play chess with him anymore, he would simply keep changing his mind on what move to make until she saw that he was going to win and gave up. Her scent wrapped itself around him as he drew her closer, and her thought made his lips curl into a broad grin. 'Hmm, now that is a good question... What would I suggest...' His gaze wandered from hers around her face, their skin so close it was almost touching, he could feel the warmth radiating off her skin. He could hear and smell the blood rushing through her veins, the movie on in the background had been drowned out by his thoughts of her and purely her.
Edward considered for a moment, battling with his own thoughts and demons before smirking a little. 'Perhaps I am not the true gentleman after all...' He muttered as he leaned in closing his eyes, his lips gently brushing against hers for a brief moment. He liked the way her scent lingered on his lips, this time a soft growl did escape his lips. He opened his eyes again and looked into hers, he was being so gentle, scared of scaring her, or breaking her. He moved forward again, though thistime his lips traced her jawline, the smell of her scent was so hypnotising to him, like the forbidden fruit, he wanted it but couldnt have it. He was content for now just teasing himself with it. His other arm drew around her turning her to face him on the couch, man he was being a naughty boy... He only hoped his ice cold skin wouldnt shock her... Or raise any strange questions in her mind.

“And there was me hoping you'd take advantage,” she said in a mock innocent voice, before smiling and laughing uncontrollably. Had she really said that out loud? 'Engage brain, then speak,' she told herself. It had been said now. She couldn't take it back. A broad smile remained on her face as Edward spoke. At least he thought it suited her. She'd never been like this before, so she really was just winging it and, apparently, pulling it off well. She laughed lightly when he suggested that she didn't get too bold because that might encourage him. 'Encourage you to what, I wonder...' she thought. God, she really wasn't the usual Damienne around Edward. This could get her into a lot of trouble. It was bad enough all the looks she'd been getting at school from just hanging around with him and everyone mumbling about seeing them out together last night. It might not have bothered her if Alice hadn't have been with them. Surely that would have made it less of a conspiracy, but not to the other Forks High students.
She considered his words about him being a friend she barely knew. “I guess,” she replied softly. “Though it kinda feels like you know me a little better than I could have imagined after only a couple of days,” she went on. “You actually take the time to talk to me,” she finished with a gentle smile. The smile dissolved from her face when he spoke again. “Hmmm, I guess...” she replied to his questions, in a thoughtful tone, feeling slightly bad for all of this now. That was all she felt bad about, the idea that she'd just wound all this up from nothing, and that was only a little bit. She figured she should feel odd about all this, but she really didn't. If she didn't know better, she would have thought that her heart was beating so fast and so loud that Edward could have heard it. That couldn't be possible. She could just hear it because it was pulsing through her. She was just getting a little paranoid now. “Tempt you like what?” she asked, trying for mock innocence again, though it was mixed with a slight breathlessness.
She chewed on the inside of her lip at his response about their games. 'Oh, I'd just let you win...' she thought, thankfully engaging her brain before she spoke that time. It allowed her the dignity of keeping that little interjection to herself. “Glad you're enjoying yourself,” she finally responded, figuring that was a safer response than her initial thought. She narrowed her eyes at him slightly as his lips curled into a grin. She swallowed as he spoke. 'God, I've really done it now...' she thought, feeling like she should be panicked by his reaction, but she wasn't. What the hell? She tried her best to keep her eyes focused on his, though his eyes wandered around her face. His muttered words sent another shiver down her spine, just before she closed her eyes as he did. She felt his cold lips against hers. Well, that's was first. She smiled, biting her lip as she heard a slight growl, hoping it wasn't her. It couldn't have been. It was too low in tone. She slowly opened her eyes to find Edward already looking at her. 'Did he really growl?' she thought, amazed more than anything.
Her eyes fluttered closed again as she saw Edward moving forward again, but this time towards the side of her face. She felt his lips on her jaw and she couldn't help, but bite down hard on her bottom lip. “Now, that's naughty,” she whispered playfully in his ear, letting out a very short and very soft laugh, her hands carefully finding the front of his shirt and resting them against his chest. Her fingers curled around some of the front of his shirt as he traced her jaw with his lips. She opened her eyes briefly to look around as Edward brought his other arm around her. She adjusted how she was sat so that she was now knelt facing him as he pulled her around to him, both of his arms around her now. 'Okay, great, so now...I don't wanna let him go...' she thought to herself as she slowly forced her fingers to uncurl, but kept her hands resting against his chest. She slowly opened her eyes, blinking to regain her focus. She didn't have to let him go anyway. His arms were wrapped around her and she was going to argue with his strength.

Edward had decided now that Damienne had a death wish... She was certainly turning out to be very different from the stammering girl he had met in class a few days ago 'Trust me Damienne... You really wouldnt want me to do that...' He chuckled lightly listening to her thoughts, once again she never ceased to amuse him. He really hoped Damienne wouldnt find out the answer to her thought question, there was a lot he could be encouraged to around her it would seem. He just hoped things would get too out of hand between them. Damienne really provoked feelings in him he had never felt before, it scared him greatly, though at the same time made him curious too. He had never understood the relationships between his fellow coven, though knowing how they felt about each other he had never himself experienced this. Knowing without a doubt you wanted to protect one person, that you would do anything for them. Also though that you wanted them, forever... Was Damienne the one?
Damienne was the only girl who had spoken to him in a while. Jessica had tried, but after she realised he really wasnt interested she told everyone within earshot that no one was good enough for him. She was wrong... Its just that no girl deserved to have a monster like him around. Though he was finding it so hard to stay away from Damienne... 'I can say the same for you.. Most people avoid my family and I... We dont really socialise that much, if at all' The sound of Damiennes heart beating in her chest was temptation enough... 'No point trying to act all innocent Miss Renton... You know exactly like what...' He smirked slightly, Damienne really seemed to love playing with him, though this really was a dangerous game.
Edward was having trouble controlling himself and Damiennes thoughts REALLY werent helping any. He cursed himself for letting that growl slip, but he didnt let it bother him all that much. He chuckled lightly as she whispered in his ear 'I did warn you Damienne... I dont see you complaining all that much though...' His lips gently kissed her neck, he could feel the blood pumping through her veins, inviting him to bite, to prove that her blood tasted as good as it smelled. A thousand thoughts raced through his mind, a thousand choices and futures... How could have let it go this far, he was intoxicated by her scent. His fingers gently traced over her back, was this want he wanted? A large part of him was screeaming yes, though there was this tiny voice telling him to resist. He let his lips part slightly, god he was hungry...
He cursed slightly as his phone started ringing just before his teeth grazed her neck... He reluctantly pulled away and reached for his phone, looking at the call display... Alice, it figured. He stood and turned away from Damienne releasing her from his grip, his head was still spinning from her scent. 'What is it Alice?' He hissed down the phone. Though in all truth he knew exactly what she wanted... He had been so dangerously close to doing something totally stupid. He took the phone from his ear slightly as she screamed down the phone at him, though she was talking to fast for Damienne to be able to understand any of it. 'Okay okay Alice... I'm going now...' Alice had been right, before he spent any more time with Damienne he needed to eat...
He hung up and turned round to Damienne sighing slightly 'Alice is freaking out... It seems she needs some help with something and apparently I'm the only one who can help her... ' He looked to her and sighed 'I'll be back as soon as I can...' Of course Alice would be trying to keep an eye on him... He headed straight for the door jumping into his car, he needed to make this look realistic. Pulling out of the drive and driving a bit before parking up and heading out into the forest. He needed to feed before he did something stupid, like he almost did at Damiennes house...

Damienne listened to what he had to say, but simply smiled softly at him. What was she supposed to say to that? Part of her wanted him to, though it wouldn't really be taking advantage if she just let him do it. He seemed very entertained by all of this, if nothing else. “If you say so,” she said softly, watching him closely. She considered then that she didn't even have to spend the next few hours talking to him. She could happily look at him for that entire time if he let her. She tilted her head as she listened to him. So, he seemed to think the same of her that she thought of him, that she knew him better than he would have thought, considering it had only been a couple of days. She scowled in confusion at the mention of the Cullens not socialising much. “Oh,” she replied simply, shrugging briefly. “See, again, that's a surprise. Considering you have Alice...then again, you said she didn't really have many friends...” she continued, trailing off because she wasn't sure where she was going with that point.
She smiled, closing her eyes for a moment at his words. 'I'm sure that's working both ways...' she thought quickly before opening her eyes to refocus on Edward again. She laughed lightly at his words, smile remaining on her face. “That you did,” she said, swallowing to get her composure back, but it didn't really work. “Oh, no complaints here,” she said in a slightly dazed voice, shaking her head ever so slightly. She withdrew a sharp breath as she felt his lips on her neck now, making her heart beat faster, if that were even possible without killing her off. She arched her back slightly as she felt his fingers running down her back. Where was this going? She shook the thought off. 'Over thinking, Damienne. Stop it,' she instructed herself. What would she do if he were to just walk away and never bring this up again? If she over thought it now, it would upset her later. She somehow knew that. She had seen it happen to her other siblings. Well, she'd never seen this happen to her other siblings, but she'd seen the after affects of similar encounters.
She jumped, drawing in a sharp breath again as she heard a phone ringing. Edward's phone obviously. He seemed reluctant to move, but the moment he saw the display, he stood and turned away, her hands slipping from his chest. She really hadn't wanted to let go, but he had moved. She ran her tongue over her bottom lip as she looked at anything, but Edward, wringing her hands together in her lap. She tried not to listen to the conversation. It was rude. She just caught that it was Alice. She kept her eyes focused on her hands in her lap until Edward turned to her again. She looked up quickly as he spoke. She smirked, laughing lightly to try and make light of the interruption. “Seems you can't escape all of the pink and fluffy after all,” she commented, trying to sound like she was making a joke, but feeling like that was in vain. To her, she sounded slightly upset, she had to admit, so she couldn't imagine what she sounded like to Edward. She chewed on her lip, considering for a brief moment what she would do with the time he was away.
She shook her head slowly, getting up from the couch and tucking her hands in the back pockets of her jeans. “Oh, don't rush. If she needs your help, she needs your help,” she replied with a very soft smile. She did want him to come back as soon as he could, but she couldn't say that, could she? “I'll see you when you get back. I need to go check the guest room is ready anyway. Just let yourself in when you get back,” she offered. She half heartedly waved at him as he pulled away. She closed the door, dragging her feet as she went back in the living area to clear up her glass, putting away the DVD and turning off the television and DVD player. She then dragged herself upstairs. She went to her room first, grabbing her iPod, slipping that into her pocket, pressing play and putting the earphones into her ears. She popped her head into her dad's room. Seeing he was still asleep, she closed the door quickly and quietly and moved to the guest room. She left the door open, looking around wondering where to start.
She crossed to the window first, looking down and out into the trees. She pulled the curtains closed. There would be no need for them to be open when Dorian and the others got here. It was already pretty dark. She turned around, looking around the room again, reaching up to rub the nape of her neck. As she lowered her hand, her fingers fell slower over the place Edward had kissed previously. It was cold. 'He must have bad circulation or something,' she thought idly to herself. She knew a few people like that. Fingers still on her neck, she smiled to herself. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh before dropping her hand again. She opened her eyes, letting out a short breath to refocus herself. She couldn't get Edward out of her head. 'Well, that's something to chase that stupid nightmare away I hope,' she thought. Something like this evening was bound to help. She spent a fair amount of time, straightening the pillows and duvet and bobbing and swaying about to the music playing in her ears.

Damienne's thoughts were dangerous... She wanted to provoke a reaction out of him, but she didnt know how deadly that could be. 'I do say so Miss Renton...' He wondered if she really did have a death wish, provoking him in such a way. Then again she really had no idea how easily all of this could go very wrong, she was far too tempting for her own good. 'None of us do... People tend to avoid us, though it suits us just fine' He smirked a little, they were used to living the quiet life, though sometimes that just wasnt possible. 'Alice is an aqquired taste... She can be a little, well overwhelming.' Alice craved human company, unfortuantly most humans avoided like the plague. Having Damienne as a friend would be good for Alice, it would help her especially in these hard times. A ray of hope in her endless darkness.
Edward found himself suprised that Damienne hadnt pulled away, he chuckled lightly as she said she had no complaints. He wasnt going to complain either, her scent surrounded him and for a moment it helped him forget all his troubles. 'None here either...' His voice was soft, almost a purr, he never realised that girls scent could do this to him. He wondered if this was the feeling Jasper got around Alice, or that Carlisle got around Esme... It felt so wonderful, so dangerous, so... eurphoric... Why had it taken him over a hundred years to discover this feeling? A mixture of hunger for her blood and just the need to be in her company. There wasnt anything he wanted more right at that moment than her... Though he wasnt sure if it was just his hunger talking...
He growled, frustrated they had been interupted, but glad at the same time. Alice had been looking out for him and if she hadnt Damienne could very well have died. Edward couldnt trust himself with her... Especially when he was as hungry as this. He felt as if he was ripping part of himself away as he felt Damiennes hands fall from his chest. Alice had been furious at him that he could let himself get so hungry around Damienne and had threatened to go down there herself if he didnt go out and feed. 'Yeah it seems that way...' Edward muttered darkly, he knew being hungry wasnt going to help his mood any, the sooner he got out and fed the sooner he would be back, hopefully with a straighter mind set. 'I promise I'll be back...' He was so frustrated sith himself that he left as quickly as he could without seeming rude.
Once he was out of his car and running through the forest he felt his head clear... He couldnt believe what he had done, he had been moments away from biting her... From killing her and daming her soul. As he passed through the trees he hit one in anger, hearing the crack as it splintered and toppled behind him. Why had he been so stupid? He focused as he picked up the scent of a deer, he growled as he let his predator side take over. Rushing through the trees hot on its trail... The poor thing didnt even know what hit it. The blood filled his hunger and desire... As much as it could anyhow. He knew that Damiennes blood would have been like the finest wine, and there he was drinking some cheap stuff off the supermarket shelf. Edward mentally slapped himself, he had been that way once, killing humans to feed. He didnt want to be a monster, even though he had no soul, didnt mean he couldnt be a good person. Damienne was a test of his mental strength and he couldnt let her win... He couldnt let her tempt him to do that ever again, not in the same way. He never wanted to harm her.
Edward fed until he could feed no more, his eyes once again that bright gold that they had not been since way before meeting Damienne. He sat looking at the corpse of the deer, drained and now at peace. Could he have really done that to Damienne? She was in danger around him but he didnt think he was strong enough to stay away... If he stayed she needed to know the truth, though he knew Jason would never allow that. He growled softly as he sat staring into the trees, he didnt know what to do now. Did he stay and put her in danger? Or did he walk away and let her be free from all the trouble he would bring? For Alice's sake he decided he would stay... For now, at least until Alice was better, then after that he would do what was best for Damienne. Even if it tore him apart to do so, then again the future was uncertain, even Alice didnt know what it held.
Edward didnt know how long he had been sitting in the woods alone, it must have been at least an hour. Time meant very little when you lived forever like he did. He made his way back to his car and drove back to Damienne's house. He sighed slightly as he walked up the driveway opening the door, he didnt know how he was going to pick up now... How could he continue as if nothing happened. 'Damienne?' He called as he entered, he could smell her again, but now it didnt cause the deep burn in his throat, this was going to be a little easier 'Sorry that took so long... Alice was getting a little carried away...' Good old Alice, always a good scapegoat...

Damienne smirked at Edward's reply, but didn't continue that part of the conversation. As with all the little exchanges they had had, that subject line had fizzled out, but there were several others that needed to be addressed. She tilted her head as she listened to him speak again. “Well, I hope you appreciate the fact that I find you difficult to avoid,” she replied with a soft smile. “You and Alice...you've made me feel most welcome around here,” she continued, nodding slowly. “Which you didn't have to, but you did and I really appreciate that,” she finished with a smile. She laughed lightly at his description of Alice. “Yeah, she seems like she might be. She's been lovely to me though and I enjoy her company as well as yours,” she responded. She oddly couldn't wait to see Alice tomorrow, despite being nervous as hell about the experience as well. It was nice to have a friend in Alice as well as it was to have a friend in Edward. It made her feel like the move to Forks wasn't such a waste for her.
She smiled when Edward confirmed that there were no complaints from him either. His voice was so soft and his breath tickled her skin where he was still hovering over her neck. A wave of disappointment flowed over her the moment Edward's phone had rung. She knew in that instance he was being called away, without even having to know who it was or what they were calling for. She just kind of felt that that would be the case. She kept as quiet as she could. Edward seemed annoyed enough without her running her mouth some more. She simply smiled when he promised he'd be back. She wanted to say that he didn't have to promise her anything because he really didn't, but it was nice to hear him say something like that. However, it did leave her a little more confused by what had just happened. She tried to distract herself from thinking about it, music playing in her ears and she tidied and fussed about in the guest room, going to check on her dad at random intervals. She had to get Edward out of her head, but she couldn't.
She sat on the clothes hamper at the end of the guest bed, pulling her earphones out of her ears and just letting them drop. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees and then dropping her face into her hands. Those few gentle moments with Edward before he had gone had felt so...right. She felt like they should have felt wrong, but there was nothing in her that would allow her to feel that. She wasn't brave enough now to talk to him about it. He would come back and she'd be the stammering idiot he'd met in the classroom that first day he'd come back to the school. She let out a sad sigh before lifting her face from her hands. She gathered up her earphones and trudged to her room. She placed them and her iPod back on her desk and just stood there looking in the mirror for a moment. There was nothing special that she could see about herself that would have deserved what Edward did. So why had he done it? She closed her eyes and shook off the thought again.
She glanced over her shoulder to her window at the sound of a car. It could only be Edward. Dorian couldn't be here yet. She crossed to the window just in time to see Edward walking up the drive. She pulled her curtains closed, then dropped her arms to her sides, closing her eyes and standing there as she listened to the door open and Edward calling her name from downstairs. She opened her eyes, letting out a steadying breath. She couldn't cave in now. He had preferred her boldness. She couldn't just dissolve back into the nervous stammerer because of this...could she? “Up here, Edward, one sec,” she called back, brushing a hand back through her hair before leaving her room. She crossed the landing and starting walking down the stairs when he was offering his apology about why it took so long. She shook her head and raised a hand to get him to stop. “You don't need to apologise. She needed your help,” she replied softly as she reached the bottom of the stairs and stood looking up at him.
She tucked her hands into her back pockets to stop herself from hugging him or something. She just had that urge to hug him to welcome him back. He'd only been gone an hour. She mentally shook herself and rocked back and forth on her heel slightly. “So, did she give you the Spanish inquisition about why you were so mad?” she questioned, trying to make light of everything. She had heard the irritation in Edward's voice as he had spoken to Alice and afterwards when he had spoken to her. Alice couldn't have missed that. She walked back into the living room, presuming Edward would follow because that's where they had sat before. She picked up the TV remote, turning the television onto some random channel for background noise. She dropped the remote onto the couch before moving into the kitchen to refill her soda glass. She somehow felt that she was being stroppy now, which she didn't mean to intentionally be. She moved back into the archway to the living area, leaning against the door frame and watching Edward.

Edward waited for Damienne to come down from upstairs, he glanced in the mirror by the doorway and saw how drastically different his eyes were, he just hoped Damienne wouldnt notice. He realised now how hungry he had really been, but with everything that had been going on he simply hadnt had the time to feed... It had been a close call and he was certain now that if he was going to stay around Damienne he needed to keep himself as full as possible on the blood front. He smiled to Damienne as he saw her come down the stairs, though it twitched a little as he realised he had created such an awkward situation between them. He reached up and ran his hand through his hair and let out a breath 'Yeah... Well' No he felt awkward... Great, he had really managed to mess this up...
He had to think fast on his feet now and make up an excuse... Of course he could have thought about all this before but he was too busy thinking about what an idiot he was. 'Not really, I think Alice had a good idea anyhow... Alice is good at working things out.' Of course Alice knew exactly why he was acting that way, the mixture of being so hungry and also Damiennes scent was bound to push him over the edge. He sighed as she went off to the kitchen, this was all his fault and he didnt know how to fix it. He waited for her to come back before stepping towards her, though not too close. 'Look I'm really sorry about earlier...' His voice was serious but soft and gentle. 'Sometimes... I find it hard to control myself.' He looked into her eyes trying to gage exactly how much damage had been done.
'Damienne... Please make me a promise, don't let me do that again...' His voice was pained, he didnt want to hurt her, his voice lowered to a whisper. He knew she liked him, he liked her but he couldnt let himself get out of control 'There is a lot about me you dont know and I can have trouble controlling my emotions...' God this was sounding like he was trying to break up with the girl or something, all his words were coming out wrong 'I just dont want to put you in any danger. Please understand...' He stepped forward and gently put his arms around her drawing her closer to him. Great, once again that sounded so bad, he really wasnt good at this at all. He felt like he would do anything for this girl. He took a step back and looked directly into her eyes 'I would do anything for you Damienne... Anything, I dont expect you to understand, but for this to work you have to make sure I NEVER get like I was earlier okay?' His eyes looked pleadingly into her, he wanted her to understand but he didnt want to hurt her either.
He looked to the TV and sighed a little 'Well it looks like watching a movie didnt work... He smirked a little and chuckled, he looked to the clock, just under an hour until Dorian should be arriving. He moved back to the couch and sat down, he didnt know how this evening was going to go now. He very well might have ruined it right there and then, why had he been so stupid? Alice was right, he needed to be much more careful. Especially when close to Damienne, he wasnt strong enough to stay away from her. Once again Edward was being selfish, putting his own needs ahead of someone elses welfare. As Rosalie would say it was typical of him... But this time there was much more at stake

Damienne smiled gently at Edward as he smiled at her as she came down the stairs. She brushed a hand back through her hair, tucking one side behind her ear as she looked at the floor nervously. She nodded slowly when Edward explained how Alice had been. “Yeah, she seems like the type to work that sort of stuff out, to be honest,” she replied gently, lifting her eyes to look at Edward now. She couldn't decide if she was upset because he had been called away or if she was just confused because she didn't know what this meant. It had been out of the blue and she couldn't have complained about it at all. It was almost too perfect. She jumped slightly as Edward appeared in front of her as she drunk her soda. She tilted her head slightly as Edward started to apologise. “Look, you don't have to do this...” she replied softly, finding the floor a little more interesting than him for a brief second. She put her already drained soda glass on the counter again, still facing Edward.
She looked up and refocused on Edward. Was he really trying to apologise for what happened before? This just left her thinking like she'd done something wrong, that it didn't mean a thing. “It's fine, Edward,” she responded, tucking her hands into her back pockets again. He wanted her to promise not to let him do that again. “Okay...” she responded with a scowl, utterly confused. What the hell was going on, like seriously? “I'm trying...” she replied very softly when he asked her to understand. She really wasn't sure what she was meant to be understanding here. She let out a soft sigh as he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her. She closed her eyes, dropping her forehead against his shoulder before he stepped back. She opened her eyes, looking up at Edward as he continued to speak, tilting her head at his words. He sure sounded genuine. “For what to work, Edward?” she questioned gently, not trying to push the situation, but she needed to know why she was meant to stop what happened before happening again.
She looked around Edward as he looked to the television. “I guess not,” she replied, still in the same soft and slightly hurt tone. Her eyes went below the television. “Video games?” she questioned, eyes fixed on the consoles that lay beneath the television on their shelf. She slowly moved her eyes back to Edward's face. She needed to get the atmosphere to change before Dorian got here. She almost desperately wanted Dorian to like Edward and that wouldn't happen if they stayed like this. She moved to go back into the living room, reaching up with her hand and squeezing Edward's shoulder briefly as she passed him, trying to make him aware of the fact that she was trying to understand and she didn't want anything to change. She moved around the couch and crouched down in front of the television, deliberating on a console. “Do you play?” she questioned, picking up an Xbox controller and turning to Edward from where she crouched. “Or we could find something on TV, I don't mind,” she continued, trying to brighten her tone and smiling now.

Alice was smart, but that wasnt why she knew what he had been up to. Though obviously he was happy that Alice interupted them, he was upset too that he was now in this awkward situation. 'Yeah shes too smart for her own good sometimes...' He frowned, he didnt want Damienne to be upset because of him, this was all his fault, as usual. He shook his head as Damienne said he didnt need to do this 'Yes... I do' He knew she was going to hate him for this, he had managed to mess it all up in a few moment of weakness, he was such an idiot. Why did he have to make this situation so awkward? He just wanted her to be safe, but he was putting her in so much danger and she didnt even know it.
He sighed slightly, he didnt know how to explain his words any better 'I'm not very good at this am I?' He tried to think of what to tell her, he just wanted to make it all go away. He leaned forward and gently kissed her on the forehead... It was much easier now he wasnt craving her blood so much. 'Us...' He wasnt sure if it was the right thing to say, but it was true. He didnt want to run away from it, he felt happy around her. He had been miserable for so long and finally he had found something that made him happy. 'Please dont be angry with me... One day you may understand...' Deep down he really hoped not, but he knew with her background she was bound to find out sooner or later. Jason couldnt hide it forever, he wasnt sure how Damienne would take the news... Who ever wanted to hear the one they cared for was a monster? Who could ever accept that?
He looked to the consoles as Damienne suggested it and he smirked a little 'Sure... If your ready to lose.' He chuckled lightly, he had the advantage of his reflexes. Playing games with Edward was never fair, not that it was his fault he was quicker than a human... If it would kill time though and relax the atmosphere between him then it would be worth it. 'You any good?' He chuckled gently as he sat down again, her scent was no longer over powering him, his head felt clear and alert. They way it should be. He could hear Jason stir upstairs in his sleep, Alice really had saved him from a sticky situation.

Damienne scowled as she looked at the floor when Edward assured her that he did have to do this. “Edward...” she whispered softly. She didn't think he had to do this. What happened, had happened. Did he really regret it that much? She looked up and searched his face. He couldn't regret it, right? He'd said all those things and he just...he couldn't regret it that much, could he? She didn't regret it, she knew that much and, if he hadn't made the request of her making sure he didn't do that again, she would have gladly let him do it. She let out a soft sigh, a very small smile gracing the corners of her lips as she looked up at him. “You're doing better than I would've,” she replied gently, keeping calm. She couldn't be angry or upset about this really. She was just a little confused, but she would try and do her best to do as he had so politely asked. She closed her eyes for the brief moment that he pressed his lips against her forehead. She slowly opened her eyes as he pulled his lips away from her skin so that he could speak.
Us? That was pretty vague, but she'd rather he be pretty vague with that one word response than any other response. That one word gave her the hope that he wasn't just going to walk away and be all awkward with her. She wouldn't have been able to bear that. She was so used to having him around already. She couldn't go back to being that loner that she was when she first got to Forks. If it came to that, she'd just move back to La Push or something. She smiled, nodding slowly at his one word response. “Us,” she repeated very softly, keeping her eyes fixed on Edward's as she spoke, letting out a soft happy sigh afterwards, still smiling. She scowled, closing her eyes and making an awkward noise when he asked her not to be angry with him. “Edward Cullen, for crying out loud...” she began louder than she had planned, opening her eyes to focus on him again. She reached up, putting her hands on either side of his face to make sure he looked at her. “I am NOT angry,” she said in a very serious tone.
She shook her head, laughing briefly, lowering her hands from his cheeks, one hand dropping to her side and the other resting on his chest. “I wish I could understand,” she said in a soft tone, pausing for a moment. “I can't wait until I understand you,” she added, in the same soft tone, patting his chest lightly before dropping that hand to her side as well. She was glad the idea of playing video games had lightened the mood some. She scoffed at his initial comment. “Oh, really? So, what's that in your description now? Stubborn and self confident?” she retorted playfully, smirking at him. She laughed slightly when he asked if she was any good. “Well, I have a lot of time on my own generally,” she replied, a hint of a sad tone in her voice, chewing on her lip and looking at the controller in her hand. She mentally shook herself, forcing a smile and looking to Edward. “So what do you think?” she questioned playfully. She pulled the two games from the top of the console, the last she had been playing. “Burnout or Halo?” she questioned, showing him the boxes.
