Damienne smiled softly at Edward as he spoke. She blinked quickly as Edward asked if she was ok, seeing the slight scowl form on his face. She beamed at him, regaining her focus. “Of course I am,” she began brightly, reaching over and taking hold of his free hand. “I'm with you, so of course I'm okay,” she continued softly, hoping that would be a good answer and would remove the scowl from his face. She smiled nervously when he replied to her comment about not complaining, the blush remaining on her cheeks and neck. She continued to smile as he smile at her. She laughed nervously before refocusing on her glass. She was feeling bad for the fact that she hadn't been even remotely aware of the fact they were bothering with Valentine's Day. She picked up her glass and took a sip before she realised she was halfway through the glass. She quickly put the glass back down again. She was just nervously drinking that now and it tickled her nose every time she did it.
She laced her fingers with his as they sat in silence. She squeezed his hands slightly as he sighed. She felt her heart drop slightly at his reply to her offer of being someone to talk to. He wasn't ready for that. Admittedly, she'd not told him everything that could possibly be bothering her. She sighed gently, smiling lightly as he thanked her. “You don't have to thank me,” she said gently. “It's what I'm here for,” she went one, tilting her head as she watched him. “I wouldn't be that good at being a...friend if I wasn't there for you,” she finished, still smiling softly. She loosened one of her hands from Edward's to nervously tug at the bottom hem of her skirt again. Kneeling as she was wasn't exactly good for the length of the skirt. 'Trust Alice...' she thought with a smirk. She shook her head slightly before moving her hand back to Edward's, chewing on her lip as she looked up at him again. All of the candles and the close fire light made Edward's eyes seemingly glow a fantastic topaz and gold colour.
She chewed on her lip as Edward said he preferred the word 'us' in reference to them as well. She watched him for a moment when he looked away. She cast her eyes down into her lap after a second or so. It seemed like one of those quiet moments of contemplation. It was weird how it didn't feel awkward...at least not to her. She couldn't really sit in silence with anyone...until she met Edward. Considering the question she had posed to him, she was certain that was what was distracting him now. This was important to both of them. They couldn't rush this. She'd never been in a situation like this before and she already felt like she'd jumped in with both feet, but she couldn't help herself with Edward. She chewed on her lip as she waited for Edward to speak. She felt her jaw drop slightly, mouth falling open, as he told her what he wanted. She withdrew a breath, closing her mouth again as he finished speaking. He always managed to say the things that left her completely and utterly speechless.
Damienne watched Edward as he closed his eyes and let out a slow breath. Clearly, he had really needed to say that...or it had just taken a lot for him to say that. Either way, she understood. She closed her eyes and felt a shiver run down her spine as Edward tangled his finger into her hair, touching their foreheads together like before. She moved her hands onto his chest, curling her fingers around his shirt like she had done before. She blinked open her eyes as he started speaking again. 'He's asking if he's the delusional one?' she thought, chewing on her lip for a moment in thought. She let out a slight breath before smiling softly. “Sounds perfect,” she replied as calmly as she could. “As long as you're happy too,” she added, looking down for a moment as her eyes stung a little. Why did he always have the right thing to say? He had to mean it, right? “The only thing I think you're delusional about is me being the right person to stick around for the rest of your life...” she muttered. There was plenty more girls around that liked him and were blatantly more attractive than her.

A sad yet almost contented smile spread across Edwards lips as Damienne spoke and took his hand, he was contented being in her company too. If it were not for the complications that would eventually arise in their relationship then he would have been satisfied, but for now at least he wanted everything to be perfect for Damienne. The blush that graced her cheeks were just so perfect, even though the surfaced blood raised a deep hunger in Edward he couldnt help but love the colour on her cheeks. Such a human emotion that had been lost to him for over a hundred years. It was odd how he was finding such pleasure in simple human emotions, well at least when they were Damiennes emotions. He knew all too well that Alice hoped that Damienne would become her new sister, but Edward was unwilling to do that. He couldnt take Damiennes soul away from her, nor could he take away her humanity. It was all the little human things that made Damienne what she was, and he could never curse her to the life he lead. He knew no matter what happened it would end in heartbreak on both sides, but it was simply what had to be done. 'As long as you are happy... Thats all that matters.' He was trying to fool himself into thinking everything would be fine... He wasnt so sure though.
Edward wished with all his heart that he could tell her everything, that he could tell her that he understood how she felt about not having a normal family. However he had to respect her fathers wishes. He didnt know how she would react anyway to hearing all the trouble the Cullens had been having with Alice, he didnt want to scare her and hearing that Alice was, well, unreliable at the moment wasnt the most reassuring news to hear after finding out her boyfriend was a vampire. He chuckled softly as she said she wouldnt be much of a friend if she wasnt there for him 'I am sorry, I must admit I am not all that used to having a friend outside of the family...' Edwards closest friend was Alice and it wasnt like he could turn to her at the moment, she had enough on her mind as it was. He chuckled silently to herself as she tugged at her dress, to Edward she looked perfect, then again she would look perfect no matter what she was wearing. Though perhaps he was a little biased... He looked into her eyes... The window to the soul so they say, there was so much emotion there behind her eyes that it simply made him sigh inside.
He had taken a lot of thought about his answer, all of it was true, every single word was from his heart. He knew though that it was unlikely that it would happen, but its what he wanted. The thought of looking over her for the rest of her life... protecting her and making sure she was safe. No matter what happened he would forfill that, even if she wasnt aware of it. He would make sure she would live a full and safe human life... Its what she deserved. He looked to her and saw as her jaw dropped slightly, had he said too much perhaps? 'Did I say something wrong?' He enquired gently, he seemed to have this effect on Damienne a lot and everytime he was scared that he had frightened her off in some way. Though in the long run it probably was better that she was scared of him, however it never seemed to be the case. Even though Edward could read her mind, Damienne still remained a puzzle to him, she seemed to hang on his every word and she never seemed to see anything negative in him, however perhaps that was due to his vampiric nature... Drawing in his prey.
Edward sighed softly as she said it all sounded perfect, as long as he was happy too. 'A life without you in it would be an empty and pointless one...' He gritted his teeth slightly at the thought of a life without her, she had filled the void in him that had been missing for so long and he didnt think he could ever live with that void again. When he thought about his life before meeting Damienne he wondered how he could cope, but now it was filled with her presence he would never allow himself to go back to that empty shell he was before... Even if it meant finding a way to end his Vampiric life, he was sure he couldnt face an eternity without her... He felt himself wince slightly as she said about being the right person to stick around with for the rest of his life. 'I am certain of that...I've never been more certain of anything in my life.' He let a hand trace down to her cheek and he closed his eyes and let his lips press gently against hers, letting his worries melt away in the moment, hoping that her own silly thoughts of other girls would fade too. The night was still young and already everything had turned so serious.
He parted the kiss and sat back slowly, his eyes still looking into hers as he reached over to the basket. He had filled it with all sorts of food he hoped she would like, after all he didnt want her to go hungry. He laid it out, with the soda he had also bought for her. He had perhaps gone a little over the top, but he really didnt want to mess this yup, he knew how important Valentines could be for girls. 'I hope I managed to get something that you like at least...' He chuckled slightly wrapping his arm around her and keeping her close. 'I must admit... Ive never done the whole Valentines thing before, its all a bit new to me. Though from her thoughts he was certain it was the same for her, so he wanted it all to be as perfect as possible. 'If theres anything you need... Just ask okay?' He didnt want her being uncomfortable at all.

Damienne slowly ran her thumb over the back of Edward's hand which she held in hers. He looked so sad, despite the smile on his face. She tilted her head as he spoke, saying that her happiness was all that mattered. “You have to be happy too, Edward,” she said softly. She let out a soft sigh as she looked down at their hands, their fingers laced together. He was avoiding something, but she wasn't going to push him into talking to her. She had told him when he was ready to talk, she'd be there to listen and she meant it. She squeezed his hand slightly as they sat there in the quiet, candle lit atmosphere. It was great to spend the time alone with him, without anyone else's interference or fear of being teased about it for days on end. She lifted her eyes to look at him again and smiled softly as he apologised because he wasn't used to having a friend outside of the family. “Now, see, that's just wrong,” she began. “I don't see why you're not used to it. You...and Alice...ah, hell, all of your family...you're all so private...” she continued.
Now that she'd said it, it sounded kind of stupid. Her family was well known in the circles of friends they had back in La Push, but she was the quietest and kept to herself the most, so she knew what it was like to be a private person. It wasn't a totally unusual thing. She glanced up at Edward as she fiddled with the bottom of her dress. She noticed the slightly amused look on his face. “What...?” she said, laughing nervously. She smiled softly as she held his gaze. They were both being quite quiet with one another. It was strange. She felt thought there'd be more to say now that there was no one listening in, but that thought only made her more nervous. She could talk to him and no one else would hear it. She wasn't used to that. She'd never spent time alone with Edward like this before now. She was used to there being her dad hanging around or someone from his family hanging around. It was refreshing being allowed the time to just be with Edward without any of them listening in or interfering.
Edward's answer really had been well thought out and said to her. She hadn't expected that at all. Well, she'd hoped he would say something along similar lines, but she hadn't expected those words out of Edward's mouth. She should have known better. He always seemed to be able to have the right words to say and make her feel better. She closed her mouth again, biting her lip when Edward asked if he said something wrong. “No...no, not at all,” she answered, trying to answer quickly, but still being dazed by his words. “I just...” she began, scowling as she thought about what she could possibly say. “I didn't expect that...” she admitted softly, scowl fading from her face as she glanced down into her lap again. She lifted the hand that had been messing with her dress, running her hand through her hair for a moment. She hesitated before moving her hand to the one of his that she was already holding, turning it over in her hands and lightly running her fingertips over his palm.
She chewed on her lip as she listened to Edward. She gasped as she heard his words. “Edward...” she whispered, trying to hold his gaze. He really was good with his words. “I...” she stammered, dropping her eyes from his. She shook her head briefly before looking back up at Edward. “How do you do that?” she questioned, laughing nervously before biting her lip again. Before Edward, she didn't really socialise a lot. Granted, with Edward around, she sort of just socialised with him, which was fine with her. He gave her someone to talk to without it being someone from her family. She finally felt like she had someone to be around that wouldn't silently judge her for the things she said. Without Edward, she'd still be the new kid that everyone ignored. Granted, with Edward that meant everyone would chose when they would take any notice of them or not take notice of them. Forks was confusing for her, but Forks had Edward, so she wasn't exactly going to go running to La Push any time soon.
She smiled again, a light blush rising to her cheeks as Edward said he was certain of what he wanted and that was to stick around her for the rest of his life. She tried to keep her breathing steady as he traced a hand down her cheek. She watched him close his eyes, hers falling shut not long before she felt his lips press against hers again. 'Edward...' she thought quickly and dazedly. She blinked her eyes open as he broke the kiss, sitting back. She let his hand go as he went to lay out the things in the nearby basket. She shifted about, taking her legs out from how they were awkwardly under her, settling comfortably, tugging at the hem of her dress to make sure she wasn't going to embarrass herself any time soon. She laughed lightly as she watched him unpacking the stuff. “Edward, you could feed a small army with all this,” she joked as he pulled her closer to him. She looked up at him in disbelief when he said he'd never done the whole Valentine's thing. “Really?” she said, sounding as disbelieving as she looked.
It was difficult to imagine that he'd never done something like this before. He was going about this in all the right ways. She let out a happy sigh before resting her head on his shoulder and looking at all of the things that he had laid out in front of them. “You and me both,” she said softly, nuzzling her head against his shoulder. She lifted a hand to Edward, tracing her fingers along the collar of his shirt. “I think I can find something in all this somehow,” she said, chuckling lightly to herself. Her eyes glanced around, a scowl forming when she couldn't spot one thing. She dropped her hand from his collar into her lap and lifted her head to look around again. “Don't tell me there's no other strawberries,” she said, smirking up at Edward. 'Keep smiling, no more sad silent moments...' she thought as she bit her lip and looked around. She found her glass from before, picking it up and emptying the rest of the champagne from it. The things he was saying were so perfect and sweet, but they couldn't spend all evening like that...could they?

Edward simply sighed, trust Damienne to twist things around to be about him, this was meant to be about her, it didnt matter how he felt 'As long as your happy then I am too.' He smiled looking down with her to their hands, it felt so natural to have their fingers curled around each other. It was a feeling that Edward hadnt felt before, a strange kind of peace that he had been seeking yet never actually found. He had given up finding peace in his unholy life, but it seemed that after years of him trying to find it, it had found him instead. The quietness of the meadow was a welcome break, Edward had the peace and quiet of only Damiennes thoughts without any interference from others. He frowned slightly as she commented about how private he and his family were. It was true the Cullens were a very private family, but it was the way it had to be. It made things easier to not get ties to the humans around them, though tat had been getting more difficult for them as of late. 'Our lives... Can be difficult at times and we dont like dragging people into it all.' His eyes flickered away from her for a second thinking about all the strain his family were under at the moment, it was a mess and it was better that it was kept to themselves. He looked back to her and smiled 'Its okay, Im used to it.' He had been living with it for long enough.
He smirked a little as she looked at him and questioned his chuckle 'You look fine in that dress Mia... Honestly...' She seemed so nervous about her appearence around him, couldnt she see how beautiful she really was? He squeezed her hands gently, he could tell she was nervous and it made him nervous too. He wanted her to feel comfortable around him, just as he felt around her 'Is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable?' He asked gently, wondering if there was something that might bring the edge off of her nerves. It was true though that she had never been fully alone with Edward, in the past there had always been someone there, someone elses mind distracting him. Then again that hadnt been a bad thing, having other people around also kept him on his toes and around Damienne that was a very good thing indeed. He had found that Damienne knew just how to be very tempting to him... She was just naturally good at it.
Edward wasnt really one to mince his words and he wasnt going to lie to her. Although he couldnt express in words how he felt about Damienne, he hoped his words went some way of telling her how important he really was to him. He tilted his head slightly and raised an eyebrow 'Do what?' He asked softly looking into her eyes, he smiled as she chewed on her lip, she was so adorable sometimes, how could he not love her? Although he could read her mind, Damienne was still a complete mystery to Edward. She was intelligent, pretty and she had a great personality, yet she didnt seem to fit in. It seemed she wanted to be left alone, yet at the same time be accepted. She wanted to fit into a world she wasnt really a part of, something the Cullens tried but never managed. He wished he could tell her that he knew exactly how she felt, that he in some ways was just like her. But that wasnt going to happen, because if it did, it would mean the end of them...
It seemed that Edwards presence really did have a dazing effect on Damienne, everytime their skin touched, every time their lips touched he heard her catch her breath and her heart race. These little human things simply made him love her all the more. The soft blush that graced her cheeks in his presence made him smile, yet all the same it reminded him constantly how human and fragile she really was. He was playing with fire and one day someone was going to get burned. He hoped though, in the long run that it would be him, not her that ended up hurting. He chuckled as she commented that all that food could feed an army... He hadnt eaten in over a hundred years, he wasnt quite sure on portions anymore, that and well, he had wanted to make sure there was something there that she liked... At least he hoped there was at least something. 'Sorry... Perhaps I did get a little carried away...' Though he would have happily have gotten more food if he hadnt though it was enough, anything to make her comfortable.
He looked down a little as she looked at him in disbelief, running a hand through his hair. 'Well... No, I'm known to be a little picky apparently.' His life had been filled with girls who had sought his heart, but not a single one had managed to interest him. Not even when Carlisle had saved Rosalie, hoping that she would give him company in his lonely years... Rosalie was beautiful, there was no doubting that, but she held no interest for Edward, much to her upset. Rosalie was used to getting everything she wanted, it wasnt so much that things hadnt turned out, it was more the fact that Edward simply wasnt interested and she did understand why. Tanya had been another one, though they were still friends, Edward knew that Tanya hoped for more from Edward, but Edward wouldnt lie. Damienne however seemed to have captured his heart completely, it was a strange feeling.
He smiled as she nuzzled against him, he was amazed that Damienne hadnt been treated to something like this before, she deserved it. Perhaps the La Push boys were really as stupid and ignorant as he had always thought... Damienne was a prize worth keeping, but more fool them, he was happy to show to her how special she really was. He watched her as she looked around the array of dishes and chuckled as she asked about the strawberries 'Plenty...' He reached over and pulled out a box of them, presenting them to her to take. He smiled as he silently sighed to himself, he didnt want her to feel sad, not tonight, he reached over and poured her some more Champagne into her glass. 'Anything you dont way, just leave' He smiled warmly 'I wont be offended, I promise.' He added, knowing she would probably feel guilty. It wasnt like the Cullens were short on money.
He picked up his own glass and pretended to take another sip, quickly disposing some on the grass when she wasnt looking. He looked up into the sky, it was cloudless, which was unusual for Forks, but it meant it would be cold and icy the next day. The stars shone so brightly and he sighed gently in thought, he could not think of a more perfect place to be and no one better to share it with than Damienne. He pointed as a shooting star shot across the sky 'Look... You have to make a wish!' He chuckled gently holding her close, he wondered what a girl like Damienne would wish for. He had seen so many shooting stars in his time, though he could think of none other as special as this one... This one that he could share with the one he loved. The skies were still such a mystery and his strong christian upbringing made him wonder what it was like up there in heaven, sometimes he wondered if thats why his wishes never came true, because he had no soul to have wishes granted to.

Damienne tilted her head as she looked at Edward. What was with him making this all about her? Wasn't this whole situation meant to be a shared experience? It wasn't really supposed to be something that was focused on one of them more than the other. She sighed softly as she came to realise that wasn't going to win in this situation, despite her trying to twist things to show him that they were about him too. He clearly wasn't going to play along, even for a second. She could feel her fingers starting to get slightly colder as she continued to hold Edward's hand, but she wasn't letting go, not for anything. It was a welcome contact with him. She chewed on the inside of her lip as she noted the scowl on Edward's face. Had she said something wrong? She straightened her head as he began a reply. He seemed to be trying to pick his words very carefully. She let out another soft sigh as he finally looked at her, smiled and finished speaking. “Well, like I said before, I'm here,” she said softly, squeezing his hand a little. “I'm not going anywhere,” she added.
She chewed on the inside of her lip again as she waited for Edward's reply in regards to what the amused look on his face was all about. She blushed lightly, looking down at the bottom hem of her dress as he spoke. “I believe you. It's just...” she began, letting out a sharp, focusing breath. “It's not something I would have ordinarily chosen to wear, that's all,” she admitted gently, looking back up at Edward. “I've not worn it in a long time, so I'm not used to it,” she added in admittance. She laughed lightly at herself. She was just making excuses now. She smiled as he asked if there was anything he could do to make her feel before comfortable. “Take me home and let me get changed?” she questioned in reply, grinning broadly and laughing lightly again. She shook her head as she slowly stopped laughing and smile gently at Edward. “I'll be fine. I promise to stop fussing,” she said pleasantly. He wanted her to be comfortable, so she couldn't deny him of that because then he'd end up fussing.
She was going to try make the most of the time they had together because she doubted it would happen again any time soon. This had obviously been planned around how to get everyone out of the way and there was no telling when everyone would be so responsive in doing it again and not noticing what they were up to. “Ummm...” she began, faltering over a response to Edward's question. Why had he had to answer her question with one of his own? Now she had to try and justify herself. “How do you always...have so many...precious things to say to me?” she began in justification of her previous question. The more she thought about it, the more questioned that were attached to that initial simple question. “How do you always...have the words that make me...speechless?” she continued. “How do you always know?” she finished with a simple final question for him. She had fallen so hard and fast for him that she'd never really questioned it. She wasn't really questioning it now, just throwing out general questions.
She chuckled lightly as Edward apologised and said he may have gone a little overboard. “A little? Are you trying to be funny?” she questioned sarcastically, laughing softly. “I'm sure we'll be fine,” she added with a smirk, wrinkling up her nose at him. She always seemed to do that when she was subconsciously trying to be cute and, right now, she couldn't seem to stop herself. She raised an eyebrow at him when he said he was known for being a little picky. “Well, you can't be that picky...” she replied brightly, gesturing to herself for dramatic effect. He had spoken to her from day one and had stood by her side ever since then. She wasn't exactly complaining, but she wasn't really anything better than any of the other girls in and around Forks. She was just little old Damienne. She smiled softly as he replied to her inquiry about the strawberries. She knew he couldn't have just brought one singular strawberry to taunt her with. They weren't her favourite thing, but they were so damn good.
She playfully snatched the box from his hands, claiming them as hers. “These are mine now,” she said giddily, poking her tongue out at him as she opened the box and pulled out a singular strawberry. “Unless you want one...then you'll have to ask real nice,” she said in the same giddy, playful tone, a smirk on her lip as she slowly bit the strawberry in her hand. She chewed on it thoughtfully as she watched him pour her more champagne. “That stuff tickles my nose,” she observed, rather childishly. Again, she wasn't complaining. It was kind of funny and she was relatively sure it was at least a little bit entertaining for Edward to see her face screw up slightly as it did. She nodded slowly as he said if there was anything she didn't eat, she could just leave it and he promised not to be offended. She swallowed the last piece of strawberry before responding properly to him. “You're eating too though, right?” she questioned with a slight confused scowl. She definitely couldn't even dint all this stuff on her own.
She looked around the meadow again, looking around the candles that were littered all over the place. “How long did it take you to do all this?” she questioned in slight awe still. She was, admittedly, still quite amazed by how thoughtful Edward had been with all of this. She'd been a bit uncertain about it, considering she'd fallen asleep at home and ended up here in a totally different outfit and everything, but she was actually loving the time she was getting to spend with him. She looked up quickly as Edward asked her to. She scowled, glancing at him for a moment when he told her to make a wish. “But you saw it first,” she quickly whispered in protest, not even sure why she was whispering in the first place. She looked up again as he held her close to him. 'But I've already got something I'd wish for...' she thought, glancing back at Edward, chewing on the inside of her lip again. 'I wish I could be bold for once,' she thought quickly as she continued to look at Edward, still chewing on the inside of her lip.
Her eyes flicked up and down his face for a moment. “Edward...” she whispered softly before making her next move. She shuffled out from Edward's grip and moved around onto her knees, kneeling up in front of him, so that she was a little taller than he was. She placed both of her hands on either side of his jaw, the tips of her fingers slipping into his hair before she slowly closed her eyes and leant into him, pressing her lips firmly against his. 'Hmmm, bold...' she thought slightly uncertainly to herself. She parted the kiss, but kept her face inches from his, her hands still pressed against his jaw. “That was your wish to make,” she started in a low, gentle tone, taking in a quick breath before she continued with her impending question. “But you gave it away,” she went on in the same gentle tone, pausing for a moment, searching his golden coloured eyes. “Why?” she asked in a whisper. She didn't know where she found the will to move around to him and do that, but she had done it now. Wishes really did work, didn't they?

A slight smirk played across Edwards lips as Damienne realised she wanst going to win against him. Edward was known for being very stubborn, though he had warned her before that he wasnt one to argue with. Edward knew he had to be careful with his words around Damienne, no matter how badly he wanted to tell Damienne everything about what was happening in his life he simply couldnt. Not only because of the promise he had made with Jason, but because he didnt want to admit that Alice was ill. He sighed and closed his eyes when she said she wasnt going anywhere, those words stung him deeply. She would leave him eventually, whether it be because she finds out what a monster he was, or because her fragile human body would get in the way. It was something he had been trying so hard not to think about, but kept surfacing all the time 'I know...' He opened his eyes and looked back into hers, if only he had the power to freeze time, he would do so now. Then they wouldnt have to worry about the pain of the future, because it would never come.
A smile came to him as she admitted the dress wasnt something she would normally wear, trust Alice. 'You should wear it more often then... It suits you.' Then again he was sure that Damienne could make anything look stunning, even a paper bag. He would have to suggest taking her out soon to go shopping, perhaps within the next few weeks. It would be a welcome distraction for the both of them to get out of Forks for a bit, a bit of retail therapy would do them both some good, and it would be another excuse to spoil Damienne a little. He chuckled as she asked to go home and get changed before promising to stop fussing 'Good, because its not going to happen...' He chuckled gently, he really would have to talk to alice about her choice of clothes for Damienne 'If you dont like it, why do you keep it?' He enquired softly, the Cullens went through a lot of clothes, but when their clothes went out of fashion they would pass them on to charities. Then again not many people lived for the amount of time they did.
He watched her as she blushed and looked away before trying to express what she meant. Edward was well spoken, that was for sure, after all he had grown up in a different time to her. Also he had much more time on his hands, 1/3 more time each day when she was sleeping. Lastly he had the advantage that he could hear what she was thinking, it was always a big bonus. Then again he wouldnt be admitting any of those things to her, they were all answers that would raise odd questions if he let them slip. He simply shrugged a little 'I only say what I feel Mia...' That was also true, however not the full truth, he only wished he could tell her everything. For now though this was a reasonable enough thing to say. 'Perhaps we are just too alike? Perhaps we are close to Soulmates...' He instantly cursed himself for thinking and saying that, he had no soul to be mates with. He had lost that part of him a very long time ago.
He shrugged when she asked if he was trying to be funny, he was just trying to make sure she had a good time. He had been so occupied with it all he hadnt really noticed that this was all perhaps a little too much for her. It wasnt like he was going to be helping her eat any of it... He sighed as she said that he couldnt be that picky, pointing to herself. If only Damienne knew the half of how picky he really was 'You need to stop putting yourself down...' He lifted her head up with his hand to look into his eyes 'Your worth so much more than you think you are...' Edward knew she was very different to the other girls he had met, perhaps though part of what attracted him was the lack of confidence in herself. He was certainly puzzled to why people seemed to take little notice of her. She certainly had to be very special for Edward to ignore the dog smell that lingered around her and her house... Thankfully though she wasnt one of them herself.
Edward simply chuckled as she said the strawberries were all hers 'All this food and all you want is strawberries?' His eyebrow raised slightly and he shook his head smirking 'Well if you like them that much I dont think I should steal any from you.' He wondered if the champagne was starting to get to her head a little, he knew the affect alcohol had on humans and it seemed Damienne's more childish side was being brought out. 'Then dont drink it... Infact its probably a good idea if you dont' He chuckled reaching over to take the glass from her. He nodded as she asked her question 'Of course...' 'not' he thought, though she didnt need to know the end of that sentence... She had never seen him eat or drink, he was amazed she had never picked up on it before... He never ate in the canteen at school either, none of the Cullens did, though sometimes they took trays to make it look like they did. No one paid much attention to them anyway.
He leaned back resting on his arms as she asked how long this had taken him 'Now that would be telling wouldnt it?' He smirked slightly knowing she wouldnt be impressed with that reply, though he wasnt going to tell her that actually getting the meadow prepared didnt take long at all since he could move faster than she thought possible. He simply smiled to her as she said that he had seen the star first, he didnt need to make a wish, though he knew what he would wish for. If he could he would wish for his soul back, but that wasnt going to happen and he wanted Damienne to have what her heart and soul desired instead. He sighed silently as she made her wish, it was a good wish. Edward certainly believed that Damienne needed to be more bold, perhaps if she was she would see her own self worth. His little lamb needed a little courage, not only for him, but for herself. If she was a little bolder perhaps she would find life wasnt as harsh as she thought.
He tilted his head slightly as she said his name 'Yes Mia?' he watched as she positioned herself infront of him and reached out to hold his face. He smiled as she closed her eyes and leaned forward, was that really all it had taken to make her bolder? Perhaps they should stargaze more often. He closed his eyes and gently kissed her, looking into her eyes as she parted it, still staying close to him. He listened to her question and he wasnt sure how to answer it, he saw her searching his eyes. He wasnt sure what she saw there, the reason was because no wish should be wasted on someone with no soul, monsters didnt deserve wishes. 'Because you deserve happiness Mia... You deserve everything your heart desires.' He truely meant it too. He reached out and brought her to him in a close embrace, his face nuzzled gently into her neck. He meant every word he said, though he knew she would think it was silly.

Damienne shook her head slightly when she noticed the slight smirk on Edward's face, a smile forming across her own. She definitely wasn't going to win. Maybe he was a little more stubborn than she had initially thought he was. Despite his warnings, she had never seen a truly stubborn side to him, but it seemed he was playing that card a little more now. A look of concern and worry spread across her face as he sighed and closed his eyes. Didn't he believe her? She chewed on her lip, silently waiting for him to say or do something else. Had she upset him with saying it again? Was he tired of hearing it? She released her teeth's grip on her lip as he spoke and opened his eye again, but the look that was mixed concern and worry didn't completely leave her face as she held his gaze as he looked into her eyes. 'You better not forget it...' she thought to herself, not having the will to say it. It would have sounded childish, but she needed him to understand that she didn't plan on walking away.
She watched him for a moment as he smiled. If it was possible, he seemed to get more handsome whenever he smiled, though, she had to admit, that slightly moody scowl of his wasn't exactly a bad expression on him either. She looked down at herself when Edward said that the dress suited her. “You think so?” she questioned uncertainly. She brushed a hand over the skirt part. “I think it makes me look like a doll,” she admitted with a light laugh. She continued to laugh lightly as Edward replied to her comment about taking her home and her promise to stop fussing, chewing her lip slightly as she listened to him laugh. It was like bells ringing when he laughed. It was a beautiful sound. She sighed softly when Edward questioned her as to why she kept the dress if she didn't like it. “It's not that I don't like it...I just don't think it suits me,” she replied softly. She shrugged as she glanced over at him. “I don't really wear dresses or anything like that often,” she went on. She chewed on her lip before she continued to speak about it.
“Well, it was bought for my sixteenth birthday last year,” she began, trying to speak slowly in order to not mix up her words and trying not to get upset thinking about it. “It was bought with some money my mom left...” she continued in a very gentle tone, casting her eyes down to her lap again. “Money she'd saved just for that purpose,” she added in the same soft tone. Why was she telling him a little story about it? She could have gotten away with a simple response of 'sentimental value', but, no, she was telling him the little back story to it. She still hadn't told Edward about what happened and about her family. She wasn't sure she was ready. As close as they were with one another, she could never find the right time to talk to him about it and now was definitely not the right time. “I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it,” she mumbled, looking back up at Edward now. She knew she would probably never get rid of it, but, perhaps, she would hide it just in case Alice took it upon herself to dress her again.
She felt her heart jump slightly when he said that he only said what he felt. How many people would admit to that? How many guys would admit to that, more to the point? She chewed on the inside of her lip and smile up at him. She couldn't help, but believe every word he said. She laughed lightly when he questioned if they were possibly too much alike. “We can't be that much alike. I can screw up the simplest sentences around you,” she said, admitting to a little more than she really should have, a furious blush rising to her face and neck. Soul mates? Had he really just said that? She gave him a quite questioning look. Had he meant that or had it been a Freudian slip? She knew she was very attached to him and something told her that he was at least a little bit attached to her, but she would have never thought about them in that context. Regardless of how close they had become in a short time, she'd never even considered that. Was he just trying to play tricks with her head?
She didn't even know if she was meant to respond to that, let alone how she could respond to it. The more she actually thought about it, the better the idea became. She closed her eyes, silently cursing herself. She sighed softly. 'Perfect Edward with his perfect words...' she thought to herself before slowing opening her eyes to refocus on Edward. He always managed to say the things that sent her heart racing, the made her mind work on overdrive and her spine tingling. She smiled gently at him. “That's a nice thought...” she said softly. She wasn't sure if it was the right response at all because she still wasn't sure she was supposed to respond to that. She chewed on the inside of her lip again when she heard him sigh when she said he couldn't have been that picky in reference to him spending a lot of his time with her. She began to lower her eyes when Edward gently scolded her for putting herself down. She didn't have a chance to do it properly because he hand was under her chin making her look at him.
She could feel her heart fluttering in her chest as he held her chin and they held one another's gaze. She wasn't used to this. No one could provoke anything like this sort of reaction out of her. No one, except Edward, that is. She knew he was just trying to be kind, but he was playing with touching words again. She looked up, away from Edward's gaze, eyes stinging a little. She withdrew a short sharp breath before closing her eyes and calming herself down. She reached up with one hand, curling her fingers around part of Edward's hand that wasn't lifting her head up before opening her eyes, refocusing on Edward's golden gaze again. She'd had no reason to say such things to him, but she felt awful for never being able to say anything as sweet and kind. He always seemed to make things about her and making her feel better about herself. She'd never needed to make him feel much better about himself. If he had ever been feeling like she had, he clearly didn't voice it. He certainly didn't put himself down as much as she did.
She smiled when he questioned her about all she wanted was the strawberries, when considering there was a lot more choice. “I'm not gonna just eat the strawberries. That would be silly,” she playfully replied with a smirk. She nodded happily when he said he wasn't going to steal any from her. “Well, they're like my second favourite berry...” she began before thinking about it for a second. “Okay...so they're my third favourite now I think about it, but it's so difficult to choose some days,” she went on, eating another little one. She pulled a face and opened her mouth to protest as Edward told her not to drink the champagne and even went so far as to take her glass away. “I'm not complaining that it tickles,” she said. “It's pretty fun actually,” she admitted with a smile. “Besides, if you think this silliness is because of that, then you're wrong,” she said defensively, chewing on another strawberry. “I thought I should lighten the mood, as seen as I was the one killing it,” she said softly. That was honestly all she had been trying to go.
She held her hand out to Edward now. “So, gimme my glass back...please?” she said, starting as an instruction, but changing it to a polite question. She was only messing around. She knew Edward hadn't experienced the completely goofy side of her and it seemed she was using it as her way to cheer up the situation. They couldn't sit there moping all evening. She didn't want that. She was going to celebrate her first Valentine's with her first...what was Edward? She knew they'd spoken about it, but did he have the official 'boyfriend' label now? She chewed her lip in thought. That was perhaps something left for later on in the conversation. Besides that, she planned on celebrating her first Valentine's properly and without sulking all evening. How could she sulk when it was someone like Edward having set everything up and him being the one she was spending the evening with? She would not allow it. She couldn't face the grief she imagined that Alice would give her had it been her fault for messing things up.
She narrowed her eyes playfully at him as he leant back to rest on his arms, giving her the sly answer around how long the preparations had actually taken him. 'What a typical guy response...' she thought, a smirk playing across her face not long after she had let the thought cross her mind. Edward wasn't the typical guy though and those words coming from him only seemed to suggest something a great deal more than if someone else had said them. “I'm gonna let you get away with that answer...for now,” she said a little deviously, poking the top of her tongue out lazily at him. She wasn't sure why she whispered his name after looking up at the stars. All the thoughts about being bold played over in her head and she couldn't stop them now. She loved stargazing. It was oddly thought provoking. She was starting to appreciate the concept even more when she found herself kissing Edward again with him kissing her back. She couldn't have possibly imagined they would end up here.
She chewed on the inside of her lip again, nervously waiting for an answer from him. Had it been too personal? She hoped she hadn't upset him by asking it. She had been curious. She let out a gentle sigh as he replied. 'Again with the perfect words...' she thought in a slight daze. “I'm already happy,” she began, pausing for a moment, considering what else she could say. “I have you,” she said gently. That was all she felt like she wanted and needed anymore: Edward. It was probably wrong to think that way. They hadn't known each other that long. Then again, they had hit it off from that very first day, getting very close quite quickly. She felt like nothing could stop them now. She allowed herself to shift into his arms as he pulled her closer to him, nuzzling his face into her neck. She enjoyed that. She enjoyed it when she could have him be this close to her and feel his breath on her neck. It sent a shiver down her spine, one that she couldn't fight, one that she wouldn't fight.

Edward nodded slowly as she asked him if he thought the dress suited her, he didnt think it made her look doll like, then again perhaps he was a little bit biased. 'I think it looks perfect on you...' He had noticed that Damienne seemed to have a very set wardrobe, infact he was pleasently suprised to see her in a dress, he would have thought it was one of Alice's except he knew from seeing her wardrobe many a time that it wasnt one of hers. As she explained about the history of the dress Edward looked down and sighed, he always seemed to put his foot in it a little. 'I'm sorry Mia, I didnt want to bring back any bad memories for you.' Edward still hadnt spoken to Damienne about her mother, he didnt believe it was the right time for it. Her thoughts made it clear that her mothers death still haunted her still and Edward did want to provoke those sad feelings in her. It wasnt the first time that he had put his foot in it though and he was sure it wouldnt be the last either. Perhaps one day they would have that talk, but not today, it didnt feel right to drag such a sad subject up on Valentines.
Edward made a mental note to tell Alice to leave that dress alone, then again she wasnt to know and she had only been trying her best. He looked back up to her and offered a smile, it saddened him that she had such a troubled life, then again didnt they always say that sometimes the worst things happened to the best of people? He chuckled a little as she said they couldnt be that much alike 'In someways sometimes I think we have more in common than is first apparent...' For one they didnt come from normal families, not that she knew that detail... They had both lost their mothers due to unforseen circumstances and they both struggled with the state of their lives. Sometimes he thought that Damienne understood him more than anyone, yet she hardly knew anything about him like say Alice or Carlisle. 'You seem to understand me more than most people, and you have only known me a short time.' Of course he knew a lot about her, but that was mainly because he could hear her thoughts, that was always an advantage.
He frowned slightly and looked away when he watched him questioningly after his slip about being soulmates. They couldnt be soulmates because he had no soul, he had had this conversation with Carlisle a long time ago, Carlisle thought that Edward was wrong, that he did have a soul. However Edward knew that he didnt, his soul had been taken from him when Carlisle saved his life... Or damned it. Carlisle was always a positive thinker though, but nothing he could say would ever make him think otherwise. Carlisle had once told him that he believed there was still a place in heaven for them, Edward though this was a silly thing to believe, they were no longer gods children and they had no place in his kingdom now. Of course Damienne probably didnt feel the same way as he did, he felt like he was being pulled towards her, he couldnt think of a life without her there... But why, why did he have to find a human as his potential mate? Not only a human, but one that had dogs as family. Fate was a cruel and twisted master sometimes it seemed.
Edward didnt like the fact that Damienne didnt seem to see how special she really was. The fact that she had managed to interest him was reason enough to know she was special, though he couldnt help but think perhaps her past had something to do with this uncertainty. He only wished he could prove to her how special she really was, in a simpliar world perhaps it would have been managable, how ever what was he meant to say to her? That out of all the girls he had met over the past hundred years she was the only one he ever wanted to be with? That he would happily sacrifice his immortality to live a happy, mortal life with her? In reality he would have to watch her age and die whilst he remained on the earth, cursed to immortal life. He loved Damienne, there was no doubt about that but he was starting to doubt their future and where it would go from here... At times like this he often sought solace in talking to Carlisle, though he wasnt sure if this was the right time with all of the Alice stuff going on.
Damienne lightening the mood seemed to come just in time, Edward didnt want to be thinking such depressing thoughts for the whole night. 'Well I dont know Mia, I am sure you can be pretty silly sometimes.' He chuckled as she tried to explain her preferences when it came to berries 'Then what is your favourite? So I may know for next time...' If there was a next time, he mentally slapped himself for thinking negatively yet again. He shook his head slowly and smirked as she started to protest about him taking the champagne from her, ignoring her comment about how she was the one bringing down the mood, she really was being very silly. He sighed slightly as she pleaded to have her glass back 'Okay... But if I start thinking you cant handle it I'm going to take it back off you... I dont need your dad on my back for getting you drunk' He chuckled gently, he really didnt need to upset Jason, they were getting on so well so far...
He smirked slightly as she said she would let him get away with that answer for now 'As I said Mia, I am very stubborn, if I dont want to give you an answer... You wont get one.' He chuckled gently, she really didnt know how stubborn he could be, after all he had perfected it over his life time as a vampire. He was very set in his ways, as humans said, you cant teach an old dog new tricks. Edward found it hard to adapt fully to modern life, he still found himself sticking to his 'old fashioned' values. There was something so special in those moments when their lips met, he knew those moments were just as amazing for her... Though she had the advantage that she didnt feel the urge to eat him, though Edward was finding it easier and easier... Perhaps it was because she still had the smell of faint dog lingering on her and her possessions, as long as it kept him from doing something he would regret then he couldnt complain.
Damienne seemed to think that everything he said was perfect, however Edward would beg to differ. He sighed gently as she said she was already happy and that she had him... He wondered how long they would have each other, though he didnt want to linger on that thought for long. 'Is that really all you need to have to be happy?' He questioned. Humans were materialistic creatures, he was sure there was more that Damienne wanted and needed than just his company. He was also sure that moving far away from the trouble of her family might help too, though that wasnt something that Edward could get involved with. He felt the shiver down her spine and he held her gently, yet firmly to him as if his life depended on it. 'You mean so much to me Damienne... I only wish I could prove to you how much' He whispered softly into her neck.

Damienne chewed on her lip as Edward said he thought her dress looked perfect on her. Like she had just pointed out, she didn't do dresses or anything like that, so he had to at least partially understand why she felt uncomfortable and slightly paranoid about wearing it. Then just when she thought she was done with making Edward feel bad, her explanation about why she kept the dress tipped the scale again. She slowly shook her head when he apologised, scowling slightly, not at him, more at herself and for letting it bother her. “You weren't to know,” she said softly, scowl fading as she looked up at him again. “I should probably stop dwelling on it...” she began, thinking about how she really would have to start talking about it. “I was like six years old...you'd think I would've been able to,” she continued. She had never gotten passed what happened really. Sometimes, she thought she was more inclined to not get passed it because she never wanted to talk about it with anyone.
She didn't have any friends that she felt she could trust enough to have the conversation with. Granted, she didn't really have any friends before she had come to Forks and Edward had found her, so to speak. Her siblings were largely unreasonable, so she never found solace in the idea of talking to them, therefore, she never actually bothered to talk to any of them about it, even with the more amicable ones. Then, there was her dad. You would've thought she could talk to him about it...right? She would have reminiscent moments with her dad sometimes, but she never really talked about what happened with him. She reached over and squeezed Edward's hand, looking at them for a moment before looking up at Edward. “It's part of the stuff I said I'd talk to you about...when I was ready,” she began in a soft explanation. “But today's not the day for that conversation,” she continued, never breaking her eye contact with him. “I'm not going to be the one to ruin a perfect evening,” she added with a gentle smile.
She smiled brightly at him when he expressed his thoughts about them having more in common than was initially apparent. She could probably list a fair few things that they had in common to be honest, so she couldn't say that he was wrong in what he was saying in any way. She looked away feeling a slight blush rise to her cheeks when he said she understood him more than most other people, when considering how short a time she had known him for. She wasn't sure why she was blushing about that. She wasn't used to being told more than half of the things that Edward said to her. She must've been doing a pretty good job for him to think she understood him more than most people. He still confused her, but that was more to do with all the things he would say to her and how they would catch her off guard. She couldn't understand how he could say such nice things to her. That was what it was, amongst a few other confusion little attributes of him. However, she seemed to like that he was confusing and a little more complicated than most people she knew.
Once she really got to thinking about it, the same could be said of Edward in relation to her. She felt like he understood her a hell of a lot more than the people she knew. Granted, most of those people who really 'knew' her were her family and she never felt like they understood her. She tilted her head as she looked at Edward, considering what to say to him. “Y'know I think that about you too,” she replied gently, laughing a little out of nervousness. She was getting better with her nerves around him. That was always a good start, right? “You're just...” she began, stopping to reconsider her words. “I can't explain it really. You just understand me, I suppose,” she offered. She really couldn't find the words to explain what she meant now that she was actually trying to say them to him. “You're always there and you always know the right things to say,” she tried in a soft tone. That wasn't even half of what she was trying to say to him. She just didn't know how to get the right words out.
Damienne was glad that she'd managed to make her mood instantly pick up like that. Watching Edward with that sad look on his face was heart breaking and she couldn't have bared it another moment longer. She beamed at him when he said he was sure she could be pretty silly, nodding quickly as he finished his sentence before giggling lightly to herself. Her jaw dropped slightly when Edward asked which berry was her favourite then. It wasn't because he'd ask, it was the way he said it was so he would know for next time. So, he planned on there being a next time of something like this? She thought she was being enough of a let down that he wouldn't want to go through it again. She regained her composure as quickly as she could, thinking about the berry thing again. “Technically, I don't have a favourite...because I thought about it again...and there's four,” she replied with a smirk. “Cherry, Blueberry, Raspberry and Strawberry,” she said in no particular order, finishing a single quick nod.
She poked her tongue out at him again as he said he would take it back off of her if it seemed like the situation couldn't be handle, taking the glass back off of him. She clamped her eyes shut as she giggled lightly at the idea of her dad giving Edward crap about getting her drunk. She opened her eyes again, still giggling a little. “I think he would say it was my own fault,” she said brightly. “But if you're gonna worry...” she began, in the same bright tone, her voice inclining upward a little as she didn't take a drink, she just put it back where she had left it before. She raised an eyebrow at him when he said he was very stubborn again, adding the point about if he didn't want to give her an answer, she wouldn't be getting one. “What?” she began in a slight mock disbelief. “I couldn't even convince one outta you?” she questioned with a playful smirk. She mentally slapped herself for that one. Now she really was being very silly. There was no need for it, even if she was trying to lighten the mood. She'd end up embarrassing herself.
She felt quite content in herself when Edward allowed her to kiss him again. That's what she had been worried about until she had braved up and kissed him for the first time, not him kissing her. She'd worried about him feeling awkward or pushing her away or something. She worried that she was being too forward with him or something. She worried about a lot of things when he came to Edward really. There was so much to be thinking about when she was around him, all of which ended up revolving around how lucky she felt that she had him in her life. She tilted her head when Edward asked if he was really all she needed in order to be happy. She nodded slowly as he finished his question. “Of course is it. What else do I need?” she asked gently with a ever so soft smile on her face. He didn't seem too convinced by what she had said because he had questioned it. “Why would I have said it if I didn't mean it?” she asked just as softly. Of course she meant it. Having Edward around was more than enough to keep her happy.
She sighed gently, chewing on her lip as she felt Edward's breath on her neck and heard his softly spoken words. She closed her eyes and reached up, one hand resting against his chest, the other brushing against his neck and lacing her fingers into the back of his hair. “I think you doing all of this for me is proof enough, don't you?” she questioned gently. Considering what he had just said, clearly, for him, it wasn't proof enough though. That was when she started to wonder if this was what love felt like. She'd never felt like this before and something inside of her really wanted that to be what she felt, especially for Edward. She bit on her lip as she kept her eyes closed and shifted her fingers in Edward's hair comfortingly. She couldn't love him though...could she? She hadn't known him very long. However, the more she thought about it, considering Edward and 'love' in the same sentence, the more she wanted to say it. She had never said it before, but felt like Edward was the perfect person to say it to. She mentally shook herself. She couldn't do that. That would surely scare him away.

Edward gently stroked the back of Damiennes hand with his thumb, just because he didnt know didnt mean he couldnt feel sorry. Edward hadnt experienced loss in a long time, but he still remembered being told about his mother passing away... 'Things like this can stay with you for a long time. I sometimes think its better to dwell on it than to forget it all together.' Edward remembered little of his human life now, only the things that came to pass around the time he was changed. The flu, losing his family and his 'rebirth' or cursing as he prefered to call it. Human memories were so fragile, he knew that Damienne would be filled with regret if she ever forgot her mother, or how much she loved her, no matter how long ago it had happened. However having said that Edward always let his emotions run him, that was what made his a rebel at times. He followed his feelings too much and he knew from experience that letting them run you wasnt always a good idea, especially when you led such a short and fragile life as humans did. At least Edward remembered what it was like to be human, though the memories had faded over time he wasnt in the same position as Alice, who remembered nothing of life before being a Vampire.
Edward sighed slightly, in some ways Edward knew how she felt about having no one to confide in. Of course he had his family, but he had no one person to lean on in times of need, Carlisle had his own problems for now and he didnt need Edwards petty ones piled on top of them. He looked to her as she looked up to him offering a soft smile. 'As I said Mia... When your ready...' He didnt want Damienne to have the same pain as him, not being able to talk to anyone. He wanted her to be happy and if that meant being there for her to lean on in her times of need then so be it. He didnt want her to feel like she was ruining the evening though, he smiled back to her though hoping that she would put it behind her for now. Edward smirked a little as Damienne turned around and blushed, he could smell the blood rising to her skins surface. It was true, she really did seem to know him so much more than anyone else. Then again at a time like that Edward really needed someone to distract him, Damienne had been a welcome distraction. He didnt know how he would cope without seeing Damienne, he would be constantly worrying about Alice and would always be checking up on her... That or sulking in his room as he did before he met her.
Of course it was easy for Edward to understand Damienne than it was for her to understand him. He had the advantage that one, he knew her true origins and two he could read her mind. Edward sighed and gently ran a finger down the side of her face 'I hope I bring some comfort to you...' He understood her life was hard, with having a werewolf family and being a human must be hard. Though it made him feel guilty that it was all so one sided. He knew so much about her and yet she knew next to nothing about him, it was hardly fair. However Edward knew he couldnt tell her, not just because of his promise to Jason, but because he wanted to be selfish and keep her close for as long as possible. He felt relieved as the mood seemed to lighten, he wanted her to feel relaxed, even though he knew she should be terrified of being alone with him. 'Hmm, I shall remember cherries for next time then.' He chuckled lightly. Not that he was sure if there would be a next time, he pushed the thought aside however. He wanted to forget about all the things that had been troubling him about their relationship, for now.
Edward chuckled and shook his head slightly 'Yes... Well I dont really want anything happening to you anyway...' He was sure that if anything at all happened to Damienne then her family would be on guard... He didnt want her family seeing him as a threat, though it was obvious that some of the family would feel that way no matter what. Edward sighed slightly 'Perhaps one day you will see that my family are right, I really am the most stubborn person in existence.' Indeed they joked his stubborness was legendry, nothing changed his mind once it was set and damned be anyone who tried to get him to change it. The kiss between them was brief, but it was enough. Edward found the shorter the kiss the better he could handle it, he really didnt want to get carried away with himself, especially not here. Though he was sure Alice might see anything like that he couldnt be sure, with her being ill. He really didnt want to rely on her, he wanted to be able to trust himself around Damienne alone, otherwise their relationship really was doomed.
He sighed as she said what else did she need, it wasnt enough that she was just happy because she had him 'What if I wasnt here? Would you be unhappy?' He dreaded the answer to that question, he had a feeling she would say yes and that only put more pressure on him. All of his feelings so far were so confused he was having problems working them all out. He hadnt spoken to Carlisle about any of it, he wasnt sure whether it was a good idea considering the stress he was under at the moment. His eyes shut tightly as she said that him doing that was proof enough. It wasnt enough, how could he explain to her that he simply couldnt live in a world without her? That he felt so strongly for her that he would rather find a way to die then continue living once she was gone. 'If you say...' He whispered softly to her. Her thoughts echoed through his head, she wanted to love him... but she wasnt brave enough to say it? He gently let his lips kiss her neck softly, he had no doubt in his mind. 'Though you may not return it... I love you Mia.' His voice whispered the words softly to her as his arms held her close.

Damienne looked down at their hands as she felt Edward's thumb slowly moving across the back of her hand, a small smile returning to her face. She glanced up at him as he started to speak. “Just because you don't dwell doesn't mean you'll forget,” she said softly, squeezing his hands slightly. She knew she certainly wouldn't forget the loss, especially with it being her mother and the circumstances surrounding how she found out about it. She had to realise that Edward had lost in his life as well because, come on, Carlisle and Esme were his adoptive parents and it didn't take a genius to realise that that meant he'd lost his own parents, and she shouldn't be self centred about her own loss. She wrinkled her nose up at him when he repeated his words about her only talking to him when she was ready. “And as I said, today's not the day for that conversation. I'm not ruining our evening,” she replied, smiling once again. She felt like she could be ready for that conversation to take place, but not today, just because she didn't want to ruin everything.
She chewed on her lip as he ran a finger down the side of her face. She smiled softly as he spoke. “You bring plenty,” she said ever so softly. She always felt settled when she was with Edward. Granted, at the same time, he made her all kinds of nervous, but she felt more at ease with herself than she did around anyone else. She considered what else she could say one the subject. She let out a soft sigh, a gentle smile spreading across her lips. “I feel like I could talk to you about anything and you wouldn't be silently judging me with every word I said,” she offered in a soft tone. She knew everyone was entitled to an opinion, but it was downright annoying when you spoke to someone and you could see it in their face that they didn't want to speak to you or hear what you had to say or were just thinking of ways they could use what you were saying against you in the future. She didn't have that feeling with Edward. She felt like she could tell him everything...although, something told her that 'everything' might just scare him off.
“I like all the berries,” she replied in a slightly matter of fact tone. She did. She couldn't really decide which was her favourite. She chewed on her lip for a moment before continuing. “Though cherries are pretty good. I like making 'em pop in my mouth,” she went on to explain, feeling terribly silly for her little explanation. “But strawberries go better with that stuff,” she pointed out, nodding to the glass of champagne that she had now abandoned for Edward's sake. “So you did well,” she added, scrunching up her nose for a moment. She nodded slowly, smiling slightly when he said he didn't want anything to happen to her. He was so considerate, always worrying about the 'what if' it would seem. She laughed lightly when he suggested the idea that one day she might realise that his family were right about his stubborn nature, comparing himself to every other stubborn person in existance. “Maybe I will,” she replied, a hint of determination in her voice. She was slightly spurred on by the challenge of breaking his stubbornness more than anything.
She didn't even really have to think of her response to his questioning about what if he wasn't around. “Well, considering I was unhappy before you were around, I'm gonna stick to my guns and say yes,” she replied, looking away from him before she continued. “The day before I met you...” she began, stammering over her words, despite how confident she had been in her intial reply. “I was seriously thinking about leaving,” she continued. “And I'm not talking about just going back to La Push either. I was gonna pick up sticks and move further a field myself, even if it meant sleeping in my car,” she went on, a slight scowl crossing her expression. She couldn't believe she had chosen now to come out with this little story. “I didn't fit in there and I don't fit in here,” she said sadly, before looking back at Edward. “I didn't fit in here,” she corrected herself. She paused for a moment. She shrugged slightly as she held Edward's gaze. “Now try and question whether or not I'd be unhappy if you weren't here,” she said ever so softly. She had tried to keep the mood up. It failed then.
She tilted her head slightly as she waiting for him to speak again. She smiled softly as he whispered in reply to her question about surely this evening was proof enough about how much she meant to him. She slowly closed her eyes as she felt his lips press against her neck, sending a shiver down her spine. She certainly liked it when he did that. He was so gentle and it made her skin tingle. H er eyes fluttered open, her heart jumped and she gasped as she heard him whisper again. He loved her? She took a shaky breath, looking up to the sky, her eyes fluttering closed again. It was fantastic to hear him say that. She couldn't doubt herself now, could she? Only, she felt like if she said it now, it would only seem like she was trying to be nice or something, even though she knew she would mean it. She wrapped her arms around Edward's neck now, bringing her face closer to his neck like he had his face to hers. “You might not believe it,” she began in a whisper. “But I love you too.”

Edward always dwelled on the bad things in his life, he was famously stubborn because of it. No matter how many times Carlisle told him he believed there was more beyond the vampiric life Edward always saw differently. He often thought about his family who had died and gone to heaven, where as he was stuck inbetween worlds. Edward had no fear of forgetting, but he was fearful that if he didnt dwell, then he would lash out in some way. At least by dwelling on his past he was constantly reminded that he truely was a monster, to be feared, not loved. 'I guess' He murmered quietly. Her thoughts made him sigh slightly, she had lost her mother far more recently than he had lost his parents. Edward barely remembered his father, he knew he was dead by the time he reached the hospital. Carlisle of course had a floorless memory of the events that lead up to Edwards turning. All of that had happened almost a hundred years ago, yet he still dwelled on it, he still wondered what it would have been like if he had died... He would be in heaven with his parents instead of stuck as a monster on the earth. 'You could never ruin it Mia...' He said softly, if anyone was going to ruin it, it would be him.
Damiennes comfort around Edward unsettled him greatly, he wondered why she was so comfortable around him when other humans were so edgy. Perhaps it was because she was used to being around creatures that were not meant to exist... 'I couldnt judge you any harsher than I judge myself, one day perhaps you will see why.' Another sigh left his lips as she thought about how the truth about her family might scare him off, although their families had a certain tension between them, Edward knew it was the other way around. Although she didnt know it he knew her family were wolves, where as she didnt even know vampires existed. Though Edward knew that if she found out he was a vampire, she would leave him, she wouldnt want him. He was a monster, just like the family she seemed to hate and he couldnt give her the normal life that she craved. This wasnt fair to her, but then again Edward had always been too selfish to see that, one day soon though it would all end in heartache and it would be all his fault.
A soft chuckle left Edwards lips as she went on to explain about her love for all things berries.'Well I am glad for that...' He stated as she said he had done well. Human food had no attraction for him, the taste wasnt the same, it was like a human eating dirt. Nothing was as satisfying to vampires than human blood, and unfortunatly for Edward his equivilent of the juiciest cherry was stilling right there with him... He swallowed the venom forming in his mouth at the thought of her and her blood. He wasnt going to ruin this evening, he wouldnt let himself do that. A soft smirk played across his lips as she thought about being the one to break his stubborness... Even Carlisle couldnt do it and he had been trying for nearly a hundred years. What hope did Damienne have? He was far more stubborn when it came to her anyway, so she had very little chance of ever managing it. Not of course that she ever would.
Edward listened as she explained how she was unhappy before she met him. Well that certainly made a change, most people called them all freaks and tried to ignore them. As she explained that she was thinking of leaving Edward felt his stomach tighten. If he hadnt have met her then... Neither of them would be in this position, she would be starting a new life, one that she would be happy in and he... Well he would have continued on as normal. He couldnt help but think that would have been the better outcome. At least that way neither of them would have been hurt by the truth that would eventually destroy them. He looked sadly into her eyes as she explained she didnt fit in 'I have never fitted in...' And he knew he never would, where ever they went he would always be the odd boy that everyone avoided. There was no changing that 'You may have fitted in where ever you decided to move to... You never know, at least you wont now.' He was unfairly stealing her life from her, he could see that now.
He listened as his words sunk in, her heart fluttered slightly and the sharp intake of breath. She certainly hadnt been expecting him to say that, her thoughts betrayed that fact. He closed his eyes and held her close as she said that she loved him to. It was the single most amazing, yet scary phrase he had ever heard in his entire life. Edward had been waiting over a century to find love, this was how he was so sure of himself. But could he really expect Damienne to know if she really did love him? Or whether she was just infatuated with him because of his unatural ability to draw his prey to him? All of his family had said that they just knew when they had found their mate... Edward was starting to believe he had found his, but he wasnt going to let her become like him... He wasnt going to steal her soul from her. 'I believe you Mia...' He didnt want to let her go, if only they could pause time in that single moment then he would.

Damienne watched Edward as she spoke to him, taking in his appearance yet again, reminding herself how much effort he must have put into all of this and she kept bringing the mood down. She cast her eyes down for a moment where he reluctantly responded to her point. She wasn't sure whether he accepted it properly or not, but that was just how she saw it. He didn't have to listen to her if he didn't want to. She liftedher eyes again when he said she could never ruin their evening. She wanted to believe him, but, with every drop in mood that she brought about, she felt like she was systematically ruining the evening and chipping into their relationship. She blinked slowly and when she opened her eyes, she was looking passed Edward and staring at a flame that flickered from one of the various candles that were dotted about. Their relationship. She thought about it for a moment longer, a soft smile spreading to her lips once more. She blinked slowly again and this time when she opened her eyes, she looking lovingly at Edward.
She tilted her head slightly as she looked at Edward, simply enjoying his company. She couldn't have hoped for any more than that. Granted, she did get a lot more than just his company. She chewed on the inside of her lip as she waited for him to speak. She straightened her head when he finally did speak, about how he couldn't juder her any hasher than he actually judge himself. She shrugged slightly. “Everyone sees themselves in a certain way, I guess,” she began in a gentle reply. “We all judge ourselves harshly...” she went on, pausing to consider her words. “Well, the non-egotistical ones of us,” she added with a smirk. She imagined a lot of the kids that parade around the school didn't judge themselves as harshly as she judged her own self and, from the sounds of it, how harshly Edward judged himself. She shook her head slightly in disbelief now though. “I wouldn't see what you could judge so badly about yourself, but if you say there's something to see, I will,” she answered.
Her smile broadened slightly as Edward chuckled softly. It was one of the best noises she had ever heard. There was no doubt about that. She was glad she could make him laugh, even if it was just a little bit. It was good to hear him laugh. It seemed to show he was enjoying himself and that was what was important to her right now. She laughed lightly when he replied to her comment. She felt cruel for spilling all of her crazy about how she had considered leaving before she had met Edward. She couldn't pin the complete reason for her staying on him, but he had helped her decision about staying. She wouldn't have known where to go and she wouldn't have gone back to school. She tilted her head, watching the sad look form on Edward's face. She had prompted that look again and she began hating herself for it in that same moment. “See, that seems strange to me,” she said softly. “Though, I think if you fitted in, I would never have met you,” she added with a slightly sad smile.
She considered Edward's words for a moment before shaking her head stubbornly. “I wouldn't have, I just know it,” she began in response. “I wouldn't have gone back to school. I would have just moved for the sake of not being here. I'd rather be away from people, knowing I'm not fitting in at all, than being around people who are too self centred to consider having anyone else around,” she said, letting out a short, sharp breath as she finished. “Sorry,” she began, casting her eyes down from a moment. “I guess that was a little bitchy and unfair, wasn't it?” she questioned, looking back at Edward and chewing on her lip. “I'd rather fit in with one person...or a couple of people, like you and Alice and the others, than fit in with any of the others around this place,” she commented with a gentle smile. She would definitely much rather she fit in with the Cullens than anyone else. It meant she got to spend a lot of her time with Edward and she couldn't think of anything better than that.
Eyes clamped shut as she held Edward in a very comfortable silence. Everything that could have been said in that moment had pretty much all been said. All she had needed was to hear it from him to know that that was what it was. Her uncertainty had laid in what he felt about her, but he had just told her, so how could she deny it any longer? “Good,” she said in a very low whisper, still not opening her eyes, after he spoke softly to her, pressing her lips against his neck, just below his ear before she nuzzled her face against his cold neck, tightening her arms' grip around his neck. She wanted to stay here, just like this. It was a perfect moment. She felt like if she opened her eyes that it would all turn out to be a dream or something. She couldn't keep them closed forever though, could she? She slowly blinked open her eyes and pulled her face away from Edward's neck, wishing to see his handsome face, but that was certainly going to be a task if he kept his face tucked into her neck. “Edward?” she whispered softly, the fingers from one hand tracing the back of Edward's neck.

Edward could sense that Damienne was blaming herself for the constant dropping in mood. It wasnt her fault though, it wasnt her fault he was a monster. He smiled a little as her thoughts then turned to a more positive note, their relationship, at least she seemed to be happy about that. He saw the emotion in her eyes, human emotions had seemed all but lost to him until recently. Since meeting Damienne Edward almost felt more human, he was learning once again what different emotions he had experienced in his mortal life... As well as a new one... He had never felt anything in his vampiric or his human life than what he felt when he was around Damienne. He was both scared, yet amazed by it. Though he could see the love in her eyes he didnt know how his own feelings showed, though he knew without a doubt his feelings for her were ten times stronger than what she could feel for him. He knew that life without her would be empty and meaningless, a life without her would be no life at all. He knew that he didnt want to live in a world that didnt have her in it... It was a strange feeling, but he liked it all the same, even if it did scare him senseless.
He knew that Damienne would have trouble accepting why he could even consider judging himself so harshly. Though he knew it was only a matter of time before she found out the truth, then she would see why he had to be so harsh. That day she found out, she would finally understand that no matter how harshly she judged herself, he would need to be judged harsher. 'Yes... One day perhaps you will...' She could think the worst thing possible for a human being and still what he had done in his life was worse. He listened as she said that him not fitting in seemed strange to her, and a soft smile spread across his lips as she said she might never have met him. 'Well we would still have class together and to be honest, I would probably still be sitting by myself. I'm that kind of person...' Though he had to admit that sitting next to anyone except Damienne in class would be a lot easier. He certainly wouldnt be concentrating on not ripping out their throats throughout the lesson. Though it wasnt as if he needed to concentrate through class, he knew everything those teachers had to teach anyway. Not of course that Damienne knew any of that. 'Theres no need to feel sad about it... If you had never met me then you wouldnt know me to feel sad about me not being there...' There was little point being sad about that...
He sighed slightly as she said she knew she wouldnt have, it saddened him that a human with so much potential was thinking this way. She had her whole life ahead of her and yet she didnt see it that way, Edward would give anything for a normal human life... There was little point dwelling on that though, his life was cursed and over already. 'No... I understand.' He did a little, but only because he understood more about her than she knew. After all their pasts were both tainted by something humans didnt understand. Of course the difference was that Damienne was human, despite the fact most of her family wasnt. Edward wasnt human and neither was any of his family, unless you counted Fae of course, but that young girls future was uncertain for now. He sighed inwardly as she said she prefered to fit in with people like him and Alice. If only she knew she was saying she wanted to fit in with monsters... The very thing she was trying to get away from. 'What makes us so different though?' He questioned gently, apart from the fact the rest of Forks thought they were freaks of course. They never fitted in anywhere, no matter how many times they moved.
The silent moment between them there in the meadow was perfect, if only he could pause time and stay there forever, just happy in her arms. He closed his eyes feeling her lips agains his neck, the last person he had allowed so close like that was Carlisle when he changed him. The light scar barely visible to the human eye against his ice white skin. Though he knew that to other vampires it shone brightly. He held her close and tight, though gently to avoid breaking her fragile form, he too was scared of letting her go... He was scared that just like everything else in his life, he would lose her, he didnt know if he could survive that. He opened his eyes looking to her as she pulled away from him saying his name. 'Yes Mia?' He asked softly, his eyes meeting hers as he looked up from her neck. Her scent washing over him, making him feel a little light headed. She really was just like a drug to him, he couldnt get enough of it, he wanted more and more and that thought really scared him. He sighed softly as she traced the back of his neck with her fingers, why was she so amazing?

tags:: edward cullen. word count:: 750. outfit:: here. lyrics:: dream scream by death cab for cutie. Damienne smiled softly at Edward as she tilted her head, observing his expression as he watched her. Despite the occasional drops in the mood around them, they always seemed to be able to smile at one another, even if they were just small smiles. She nodded slowly as he agreed with her about maybe some day seeing why he judged himself so harshly. She laughed softly at his words about how they would have still had class together, regardless of whether he had fit in with the other students before her arrival. “Yeah, but if you were in the 'in' crowd, I doubt I'd get a word in edgeways,” she observed, considering how she'd not really spoken to anyone properly, besides Edward and his siblings and they were definitely part of the out crowd, considering how people seemed to avoid them, yet at the same time always seem to have something to say about what they were doing around the school. Despite how the other students seemed to avoid the Cullens, they seemed to be the topic of their conversations A LOT.
She shrugged slightly when he said he'd probably be sitting by himself anyway because that was the way he was. She could understand that. Even when she knew people around and could be sat with them instead of being alone, she would often chose to be by herself. She chuckled gently to herself when he said there was no need to feel sad about it because if she had never met him, he wouldn't know him to feel sad about him not being around in the first place. “Yeah, but I know you now, so that little scenario goes out the window,” she taunted with a gentle smile, poking her tongue out at him for a brief moment. She chewed on her lip as she considered Edward's question for a moment. “ A whole bunch of things...” she began in a gentle reply, one hand reaching up to twirl a couple of her curls around her fingertips. “You listen,” she continued, considering her words before she let them leave her mouth. “You care,” she went on softly, a small smile curving her lips.
Those two things alone were enough to make them completely different to the company she was generally used to. She felt better for the closeness and the fact that Edward believed her words about loving him. She knew how things could be misconstrued sometimes. She'd seen it happen so many times with her siblings, how one would say or do something and the other would follow, but the person who said or did the thing originally wouldn't 100% believe what the second was saying or doing. It was a complicated mess her family, it really was. She kissed his neck a second time before moving away and whispering his name. All she had wanted of him was for him to look up so she could look at his face. She felt like it seemed like a rather silly reason for distracting from how comfortable and settled he seemed to have been, nuzzled against her neck. She laughed nervously, looking away for a brief moment as she considered how she could explain distracting him. She couldn't think of anything besides just telling him the truth.
She shrugged slightly and laughed nervously again before saying “it's silly really.” She chewed on her lip, her fingers tracing further up the nape of his neck and into the lowest part of his soft bronze coloured hair. Her eyes searched his facial features as she took him all in. It was like she hadn't seen him in so long, yet he had simply nuzzled himself against her neck. It wasn't like he had left her or anything. “I just wanted to see your face,” she said gently and honestly. She felt silly, but that was overwhelmed by how good she felt about being honest about it. She smiled sweetly at him before leaning her head down and tucking it against his neck again, placing another soft kiss just below his ear, closing her eyes as she settled against him. Her fingers continued to weave through the back of his hair and against his neck. She opened her eyes, lifting her other hand to his chest, fingers reaching up to his collar and tracing along it. “Thank you for all this,” she said gently. “You really didn't have to, y'know?” she pointed out.
