The smell was becoming horrendous. Tobe had heard those sentimental assholes on the reservation moaning about the Cold Ones for years. Watched as they pondered in secret which of them wolf out next. They were completely oblivious to the Renton family, Jason had always insisted it stayed the families little secret but Tobe found this insulting. How dare anyone overlook the house of Renton? Still, it amused Tobe to no end seeing how anxious the old timers were getting. Sadly the odour of the legendary Cold Ones was not mistaken and Forkes stunk. One day the treaty would be broken and the action would be fun until that day Tobi had an issue burning in his cold - even colder when you considered he was a wolf - heart.
Damienne. Even if she was a mere human she needed to return to her rightful home and for some reason that Tobias could never quite get his head around Daddy Renton was against that idea. Taking her away was a huge mistake in Tobis eyes one he had been trying to rectify since day one. Phone calls had stopped working, text messages, instant messages. Why was she ignoring him? Had Daddy Renton really poisoned her mind against her own flesh and blood? Perhaps it was the fowl stench in the air, perhaps it was hypnotising in some way. Regardless Tobias was a man on a mission - that mission to speak to his sister.
Nobody knew Tobias was making the journey from La Push into Forkes aside from except Scarlett. Sometimes Tobi wondered what would happen if he had never imprinted. It hurt him deeply to never imagine such a strong powerful perfect woman in his life but she was the one thing that rooted him to any degree of normality. Wild and unpredictable as he was in the past he was an even bigger force to be reckoned with. Scar had promised him to keep quiet about this. His own secret mission from his less than secret agenda.
New Rocks slammed into the ground each step echoing with purpose. This was no stealth mission as such, it was just family business. Damienne would return with him there was no doubt in Tobis mind. His teeth ground together as he walked up the path to his ultimate destination, the house of Jason Renton, temporary insanity was no longer an excuse. Those monsters being around was a bad omen and come hell or high water Tobi could not fail. His nostrils were filled with the smell of his father as Tobi knocked on the door and his balled up fist caused his finger nails to dig into his skin. A small amount of blood began to pool and when Tobi realised he wiped it on the door.
It was almost biblical in a Christian sense, those evil creatures would never venture through that door if Tobias has anything to do with it, well they could when he got Damienne out but not before. Another knock on the door and no reply. Tobias felt the frustration build inside, he took a large breath while thinking. On the release of the breath he slammed his palm onto the door beside the lock and heard the satisfactory sound of it being pushed through. He took a few steps inside. The place was below any member of his family it was disgusting.
"FRANKIE, Get your ass here now or I swear I'll end you!". He yelled at the top of his voice not even concerned if the neighbours heard him. The less time Tobi spent in this dump the better

Jason sat at his desk in his room tapping away at his laptop, he was feeling more relaxed knowing that Frankie was finally making friends. Infact she hadnt been gone all that long, a study date with friends she had told him. He was confident now that moving her to Forks had been the right choice, taking her away from the chaos that was their family. Frankie deserved a shot at a normal life, well as normal as Jason could give her at least. He knew that a certain member of the family had been bothering Frankie ever since they left, Jason had expected this. He knew Tobias wasnt going to take his choice to move her away from the family well. Then again what else could he do? He wanted Frankie to be happy, and he was sure this was the best way.
As he finished off his typing he closed the laptop, things were going well, then again he thought that a fraction too soon. He jumped as he heard the crash of the door downstairs, a shot of cold fear ran down his spine for a fraction of a second before he heard that familiar voice. He sighed shaking his head as he calmly stood and moved to go downstairs. He should have known this would be Tobias's next step after Frankie started ignoring his calls. Then again he had half hoped he wouldnt dare venture into Forks. He slowly decended and spoke out in his usual calm voice 'Even if Frankie were here I doubt she would listen Tobias' The familiar quirky grin played his lips 'You know Frankie... Shes got a mind of her own... Funny that...'
Jason was unsure how Tobias would react to her not being here, he certainly hoped he wasnt going to go to the extreme of hunting her down. His gaze met his and despite his grin the intensity in his eyes matched his sons. Jason was used to the drama of the Renton family, there was still pain every time he saw his children, the painful memories of losing Selina still haunted him. He hated the constant conflict that plagued their lives, he knew Frankie hated it too. 'Shes finally happy Tobias, would you really steal that away from her? Or are you too selfish to consider her feelings rather than your own?' He leaned against the wall, knowing this wasnt going to end well. At least Frankie wasnt here, she was enjoying herself with her friends, at least he hoped so.

Tobias took a deep breath at the appearance of Jason at the top of the stairs. He had given up calling the man Father years ago, after all Jason was the one who had caused more embarrassment to the family than any oblivious outsider in recent days. Being such a calculating individual Tobias had prepared for this outcome to a degree. Of course Jason would try and cover for Frankie. Paternal instinct? How laughable! Tobias managed to separate weak emotions away in favour of that which would bring the family honour they so rightly deserved. Plus, if his actions made himself look good all the better
'Even if Frankie were here I doubt she would listen Tobias… You know Frankie... Shes got a mind of her own... Funny that
How dare this man say these thing? How dare he say them with that smile. How Tobias had dreamed - literally - of wiping that smile from Jason's smug face. "Funny? You think its hilarious that she's a laughing stock? We are all laughing stocks Jason, each and every member of this family has been overlooked time and time again but guess what - I am top dog now and things are going to change around here! Starting with uniting this family! With or without you it makes no difference."
Tobias paced backwards and forwards. He was irritated as hell but wanted to remain somewhat rational about things. If Jason was lying - and Tobias wouldn’t put anything past the worthless cretin - there was no use in wolfing out and wrecking the joint. This was where his sister called home for now - sure that was going to change as soon as he made Damienne see sense but he would continue his version of the softly softly approach a little longer.
Shes finally happy Tobias, would you really steal that away from her? Or are you too selfish to consider her feelings rather than your own?
"Happy? Happy? Oh you break my little heart Jason! You above anyone should know that joy fades but blood lasts a lifetime" It was a low blow talking about his own mothers “fading”. It did cut him up to make such a move so early in the proceeding but he had found emotional torture was a great technique for extracting information and in Jasons case Tobe knew exactly which buttons to press. "Why don’ we cut the crap? You tell me where she's gotten to and then pretend like I was never here." He examined his the mess he had made of the door before adding. "Might involve a trip to the hardware store"

Jason had been hoping that Tobias wouldnt bother them so directly so soon after the move. He knew his feelings about them being in Forks all too well but he really did seem determined to get Damienne back to La Push. Jason wanted the best for Damienne, he wanted her to have a happy life free from all the troublesome shapeshifting stuff. He knew that Damienne still lingered over Selina's death, something that wouldnt have happened had she not carried the gene, and now the rest of the family were suffering because of it. Jason prayed every day that Damienne would be like Summer, the only other Renton child that didnt carry the gene. He didnt know how he would cope if Damienne ever changed, it would break his heart to lose the sweet placid child that he loved so dearly. He knew though that Tobias was beyond caring about what they wanted, he was selfish and cared only for what he wanted.'What part of Frankie doesnt WANT to be united with you dont you understand?' Ever since her mothers death Damienne had seemed to hate what her family was, though she was so young she grew up just wanting to be normal, Jason could give her that now, but her brother was too stubborn to let that happen.
He scoffed a little as Tobias named himself top dog, the only thing Tobias was top of was pains in the ass... He could see how irritated he was, he really couldnt see this ending well but he had to keep him away from Damienne at all costs. 'You cannot choose your family, its true, but dont you think she deserves a little bit of happiness in her life? Or are you too stubborn and selfish to let her have that? Would you really prize your pathetic pride over the happiness of your sister?' He scowled slightly, it was true that he himself had never been happy since he lost Selina, it stabbed him deep in the heart, but truely he had lost her before she died... He lost her the day she changed. He would rather die than leave Damienne to live that miserable life, today he had seen something he hadnt seen in a long time, he had seen her happy. He couldnt let Tobias take that from her, not now, Damienne deserved a normal and happy life and even if Jason died trying, he would give that to her. Just because his life had been torn apart by the shapeshifting gene, it didnt mean that she couldnt finally have a happy and 'normal' life.
He scowled again as he demanded where she was 'I would rather die then tell you that Tobias. Shes out enjoying herself for the first time in her life and I am not about to spoil that because one of my sons is having a tantrum and has thrown his rattle out of his pram.' He had never been this brave around Tobias before, but he was fed up of cowering before his children, he would defend Damiennes happiness even if it ended up killing him. 'Do you really think Frankie or I are that stupid? Do you really think we would trade a chance of a normal and happy life just to make you go away? You want her to be with her kind Tobias? Well she IS with her kind, she is not one of you, you need to accept that and let her go.' He only hoped that his words wouldnt come back to haunt him, but if he lost Damienne to the gene then he prayed she would be able to control her rage like Dorian, then he wouldnt lose her completely.
Jason gestured to the door 'You can do what you want with the house Tobias, they are only things.' He turned around and started making his way back upstairs. He knew there was going to be little point in standing there arguing with Tobias. He was too narrow minded to see anyone elses point of view other than his own. He hoped that Damienne was enjoying herself, he mused for a moment over how 'happy' she had seemed when she said she was going out with friends. He knew she had been feeling down since they arrived, she was having trouble settling, why did he have to come on the day she finally started to feel relaxed here? It was cruel to let her get involved in this row today. Its not like Tobias would go on a rampage through Forks to find her, not even Tobias was stupid enough to do something like that.

Tobias could not believe Jason would turn his back on him. Was he some sort of an idiot? Tobias smirked at his own inner questioning. What a pointless train of thought, Tobe knew by now his Father was some sort of idiot. He thought his heart was in the right place but at the end of the day (at least in the eyes of Tobias Renton) Jason was misguided. He thought he was looking out for Damienne? That this was the way? He was trying to fool himself into think Damiene was going to remain in his narrow minded mould of normal. Tobe moved further into the house, to the bottom of the stairs, he stared at Jason with pure hatred. He wasn't on the verge of losing control or anything but.Tobias allowed himself to think like his inner wolf for just a second.
Old man, try to consider more carefully what you say. If you have a death wish I am more than happy to oblige. But getting your blood on my hands is not what is best for Frankie. It would give me quite a bit of pleasure but I, unlike you Jason am in fact not selfish. Tobias scanned the room looking for something specific – the exact sort of projectile. A small table sat beside the already broken door on it was an item that met Tobias' need – a vase. Ever since his mother has passed away that large decorative vase had lay empty. It wasn't really of any importance, it held no sentimental value to Selina, in all likelihood Jason was just too lazy to shift it. It was perfect. Tobe walked away from the stairs to recover the vase giving the table a kick for good measure. One of its legs gave way but it remained standing on the other three support legs. Only a possession right Dad? Tobe spat the word with such venom, he twisted it in a way that almost made it sound like an insult or the most disgusting of curse words. He moved back to his previous position at the foot of the stairs once again his face contorting into his evil grin. He took aim and launched the vase. It hit off the wall near the top of the stairs with such a clatter it was amazing it didn't leave a dint. The wall didn't give but the stained glass of the vase shattered into hundreds of pieces. A couple of larger pieces narrowly missed Jasons leg, it wasn't something Tobias had planned rather an added bonus. How could she be truly happy in this dump? In what way are you, Jason Renton a shining example of being happy?
Tobias watched as the remnants of old dirty water slowly dripped down the wall it began as one strand but split looking kind of like an upside down V from that graphic novel. That was all about the anarchy, about making things right. How apt then that Tobias was laying the foundations to see justice done in his little corner of the world. Face it Jason, she probably wont be your little girl much longer. Your littlest pup... His eyes lit up with pride at these words....Is soon going to be all grown up. You may be in denial but it's her destiny and even a bitter old man like you wouldn't want to stand in the way of destiny. I'm going to ask you this again – where is my baby sister? Tobias had tried step one - to be civil (at least by Tobias' standards, now he was trying step two - to get his answer by using fear creatively. If his father chose not to answer him again... in honesty, as much as he despised his Father, Tobe didn't even want to think about step three

Ever since they had moved from La Push Jason had been expecting this. He knew it wouldnt be long before Tobias came and tried to excert his authority... Or at least try to. Jason had been used to be the cowering fool, being scared of his own children. He had been unsure of himself at first, but after seeing that smile from Damienne he knew that this was the right thing for them. He hadnt seen her smile like that for a very long time. All of this, the move, the isolation from the family was for her and her happiness and it seemed to be working. He knew that Tobias wouldnt see this, he was so focused on keeping her under his grasp he didnt care for what she wanted... He knew Damienne craved a normal life, Jason blamed himself for that. He couldnt provide her with a normal life no matter how hard he tried, something always for in the way. 'And what do you care about whats good for Frankie?' He knew what he actually meant was it wouldnt be good for him. Although Tobias didnt care much for his dad he knew Dorian did, as did Damienne. By killing him he would only make life harder for himself. 'I find it hard to believe you have her best intentions in mind Tobias... After all if you weren't being selfish you would actually care that shes happy here.' He let out a slow breath 'Since you still seem to insist of denying her that it only proves that you are indeed being selfish, your certainly thinking more about what you want than what she wants.'
He knew turning his back on Tobias was stupid, but he was beyond caring what happened to him now. He was tired of all the drama, he had wanted to move Damienne further away, perhaps up to Seattle closer to Dorian or even another State. However Damienne didnt want to move far from her mother. Jason couldn't blame her, Damienne still seemed to cling to her mother's memory. Jason however wanted to forget... Though it sounded cruel, he wanted to forget the way she was after she changed, he wanted only to remember her before the gene took hold. Visiting her grave only reminded him how she died, and why. He turned as Tobias kicked the table, he knew Tobias wasnt just going to leave. Not easily anyway. He saw the Vase he held in his hand. It was one that Selina often put wild flowers in when she was alive. Another echo of her life that still lingered with him. He hadnt put anything in it since her death, it was too painful, he was still unsure why he had even brought it with him. 'Yes, just a possession.' He commented watching his son carefully, wondering what he was going to do.
Jason dodged as the Vase was thrown in his direction, managing to avoid the shards that landed near him. He looked to his son with an anger flaring in them as he spoke. 'I have sacrificed my own happiness for my family. I know the word sacrifice would be lost on you Tobias, you know nothing but selfishness, greed and anger.' His voice was more aggressive, he was fighting back, something he had never done before. But he was so certain of what he had done, what he had sacrificed for Damienne that he wasnt going to let Tobias ruin it. 'We may not have much here, but its more than we had in La Push, why can't you see that and let her go?' Of course Jason had heard about the vampires in Forks, not that Damienne knew about them. He didnt know who they were, only that they existed and made themselves at home here. He also knew they werent a threat to them, though he was sure Tobias thought otherwise. In Jasons eyes friendly vampires were less of a threat than their own family, though it hurt to admit that to himself.
His body went rigid with anger as Tobias refered to Damienne as his littlest pup. She wasnt like them, he wouldnt and couldnt accept that. If he did then he would have lost everything. Damienne was the one shred he had left of a normal human life and he didnt want her to go through what her mother did. 'Her destiny doesnt lie with you Tobias!' His voice raised, he didnt often lose his cool but Tobias was really pushing all his wrong buttons. He reached down picking up one of the larger shards of glass in his hands, the light reflected off its coloured surface as he turned it over slowly. 'I won't tell you were she is Tobias, she has a right to choose her own destiny... I will not let you choose it for her!' Anger flared in his eyes, as he flung the glass shard towards his son. His anger driving him, he realised after it left his hand it was foolish. However he wasnt going to give into him, not this time, not ever again. Damienne deserved to be free from his shackles and Jason would fight for that, even if it killed him.
