Edward snarled playfully at Jack's challenge, “Oh yeah?” He asked, “We'll just have to see about that.” His hand brushed his car lovingly, “My pretty, little Volvo can be a monster when needed.” Stepping away he allowed Alice to exit the car. “Much like myself.” He added, his tone low.
His vision followed Alice, then Amanda, Jack and the cousin as they all entered the house. From the smell and sound of things everyone but Esme had returned home. Not only that, but a familiar but hard-to-grasp scent lingered on the air, reminding him of something, someone, he couldn't forget, no matter how hard he tried. Not only were there two shape-shifters, one vampire the claimed to be his sister and an odd acting Alice in that house, but now he knew that Angel was in there as well.
Leaning against his beloved foreign vehicle Edward ran his fingers through his hair. It was just too much. All of it, he couldn't take all of this plus her being there. He knew that Carlisle had never really forgiven Edward for letting her leave like that, and in truth Edward was disappointed in himself as well. He might loathe her very presence, but she was a Cullen of sorts.
Making his mind up he pushed himself from the car and began to run, at full speed into the woods. He was faster than anyone he had ever met, and it would take them a moment to notice he was gone. Unless Alice foresaw and told on him. He didn't think his sister would unless it were necessary so he head off anyway, trying not to think of where he was going so it would even be more difficult for her.
In a little while he found himself at the top of a tall pine on the edge of their land. The view was astonishing and the only sound was the wildlife that surrounded him. Not only that but he had a birds-eye view of compound Cullen, allowing him to be prepared if anyone were to try to come and fetch him.

Emmett bolted out of the door, going outside and stopping to take a deep breath, taking in the scent. Smiling as he caught Edwards, he headed in that direction, following it for a good amount of time. As he ran, all that was on his mind was what the hell was he supposed to do. I mean, if Edward was throwing a hissy fit, then it wasn't his fault. But they were still family, and Emmett at least had to get him to come back.
By the time he had come the bottom of a large tree, he rolled his eyes and yelled up, "Get your ass down here!" He didn't want to climb up and sat down at the base of the tree among the roots, picking up small stones and throwing them into the distance.
"Your being stupid little brother." He said to the tree. "Are you pissed about the shapeshifters, or are you just ticked off about Angel being back?"

Upon seeing that it was Emmett that was sent after him Edward growled softly and retreated farther into the tree. Watching his brother's movements as much as was possible Edward's vision followed Emmett as he raced through the woods cutting through the trees and underbrush. Emmett was a sight to be seen at full speed. The large man had amazing agility hence the nickname Monkey Man that Rose had given him.
When Emmett made it to the tree Edward crossed his arms in front of his chest. “What are you gonna do if I don't come down?” He shouted in response. Emmett might be strong but Edward was faster, plus, he knew what Emmett would do before Emmett did it. “I'm pissed off at everything.” He replied, still shouting. “I'm pissed that there are new shape shifters in town, I'm pissed that Angel's back, and I'm pissed that there's a new Volturi wanna be in town. Not only that, but there's some vampire in our house that claims to be my sister.” He paused, gathering breath before he yelled more, “My biological sister.” He sat down on a branch, the very picture of a spoiled brat. “Which is impossible.” He added under his breath. “Plus there's this chick at school who I can't 'hear'!”
After yelling at Emmett for the brief spat, Edward felt a little better. It was still far to much to be occurring at once. “I'm not going back to the house.” He said in a firm tone. And he wasn't, and no one could make him.

"Are you done with the pitty party?" Emmett asked as he threw another stone into the distance, listening to it whistle off into the forest. "You know, if I didn't know you better, I'd say your being a whiney little bitch right now."
All Emmett could do was laugh. His brother was complaining about things he had no control over. At his age, he should know better than to throw a temper tantrum over something this stupid. He was acting like a human again, and it was fucking hilarious.
"I'm not going to do anything to you." Emmett said happily. "I'm just going to sit here until you decide to come down. You know, that Jack girl, she looked like a good match. I'm gonna see if she wants to fight sometime. For sport you know?" Emmett was just talking, thinking what he wanted, and a good fight would be fun. "This girl that says she's your sister, ignore her for a while, I mean, we'll deal with that later. And the girl at school? Your getting this frustrated over a human? I mean, dude, come on! She's a human! In a year, either she'll be gone or we will, so just deal."
Emmett looked up the tree. He could see Edward sitting on a branch. It was quite amusing, he had never seen him act like this, and Emmett was thinking of ways to fuck with him about it, and rub it in his face. "Who cares about Angel. She's a pain in the ass anyways."

Rolling his eyes Edward uncrossed his arms and the muscles in his body uncoiled. Emmett was right, Edward was acting like a freaked out newborn, and it wasn't very fitting, seeing as how he was over a century old. “Yeah, Jack would be fun to play around with.” He admitted solemnly. After seeing the guts the girl had from their race earlier, Edward could imagine how rewarding sparring would be with her. Although, he wasn't so sure he wanted to get that up close and personal with her. Maybe sticking to racing was a better idea.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” he muttered as he began to climb down the tree. Edward moved at normal speed not really in a rush to get back to the house, but knowing that he would have to eventually. Running away from responsibility never ended up well and he knew that. But he also planned on avoiding it as long as possible. As he reached the bottom he shook his head in agreement. “Angel is a pain in the ass, and I wish she hadn't come back.” That much was true, partly at least. Her coming back brought all the issues they had to the forefront, and at the current time, Edward didn't want to have to deal with that too.
“But what about the Volturi wannabe?” Edward asked. He hadn't forgotten Zavier, nor did he think he would. He really needed to talk to his family about the new vampire in town, without outsiders present.

Emmett looked at his brother and pointedly rolled his eyes. He wasn't listening to himself. It was hilarious, but it seemed Emmett needed to bring him into the light.
"Listen to yourself. One lone wannabe Volturi. Wannabe. So we don't even know if he is Volturi, in truth. And he's alone while there's 7 of us. We can deal with it." He laughed easily, raising an eyebrown at his brother.
"You worry about the stupidest things. Especially things that we can easily deal with." Emmett shook his head laughing. "I can picture you in the canteen at school, bristling pissed, staring down that Jack girl, just because she's new. You over exaggerate everything. Calm down."

As was often the case, the being that Edward considered his 'older brother' was right. The way Emmett put things it seemed like there wasn't a problem at all. Once again Edward was behaving like a child, and he pouted a bit about that before he caught himself. He laughed half-heartedly as he playfully punched the other man in the shoulder. “I hate it when you're right.” Edward admitted, toeing the dirt in front of him.
“So I guess this means we have to go back, huh?” He asked, sheepishly. That was really the last thing he wanted to do. To deal with Amanda, Angel or Jack … god, she was just one whole big issue by herself. Maybe he could talk to Amanda when they got back. It would be good to pull her aside and see what was going on, without everyone else hanging around. Except maybe Carlisle. Carlisle knew how to deal with everything.
“Race you to the house?” Edward asked grinning impishly. He was fast, faster than Emmett, but in this terrain, Emmett might just be able to beat him.

"Yeah it's been known to happen on occassion." Emmett replied laughing, as he stood up and elbowed Edward. He rubbed his hands together as he looked in the direction of the house.
"Yeah. Let's go back and see what kind of mess everyone has gotten into."He smiled as he started to walk in the direction of their home. Emmett wanted to get back and see if there was anything particularly amusing going on, and to see what happened with Carlisle talking to that Jack girl. Hmm, that would be interesting. When he heard Edward say the word race, he just smiled and took off after him, running full speed. He doubted he could beat Edward, but hey, he could at least try
