Character's Name (nicknames): Serenity "Ren" Pearce
Gender: Female
Age: appears to be 18, true age is 331
Category: Vampire
Sub-Category: Golden Eyes
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Family: None living
Character History:
Serenity Pearce was born in January of 1674 in Salem, Massachusetts, the only child of Ariana and Darien Pearce. Like many other families, the Pearce's were members of a Coven that practiced natural, peaceful magick - though others of their community did not always see it as such. In 1692, the Salem Witch Trials began. All three Pearce's were condemned Witches, and sentenced to burn at the stake. During their final night together before their deaths, Ariana and Darien helped Serenity escape into the woods, wanting their daughter to have a chance at life when they did not. Guarded by well placed protection spells, Serenity made her way away from her parents as their final request and evaded all pursuers...all except for one.
While in the woods, a mysterious man approached her. A Vampire, she'd later found out, drawn to her by the power of her spells. Although Serenity tried to fend him off, the Vampire was much too strong for her, and she quickly fell prey to his fangs. The Vampire did not, however, plan on the strength of a protection amulet she wore on her neck, and when he bit her and it touched him, he was burned and released her instantly. Serenity had escaped yet another danger, although she would then become one herself.
Waking up alone in the woods, Serenity first discovered that she could no longer use her beloved magick. Her body had changed, and the power she once wielded so effortlessly would not return to her no matter how hard she tried. She knew at once what had happened. Serenity had become a Vampire herself. Unlike her attacker, though, the protection amulet didn't burn her, and she'd developed a different outlook on her circumstances. She wouldn't kill anything, and especially would not hunt humans. She did not want the same fate bestowed upon someone else. Serenity drank from animals enough to sustain her, but never to kill the offering beast. She also discovered, in time, that while she could no longer use magick, she had received an additional gift in it's stead: telekinesis. Armed with a new weapon in her quest to restore the Vampire's honorable name, she set out in the early 1700's to stop all creatures like her attacker.
Serenity made her way through New England and Canada over the centuries, and eventually ended in Forks. She, like so many others, liked its qualities of being a small, isolated community and above all the fact that there was the least sunshine here out of anywhere she'd been. Deciding to try to assimilate into her new temporary home, she enrolled herself in the local school district, listed as emancipated, and lives in a small house at the outskirts of the town. She teaches yoga in a rented studio space in town as a tribute the her departed parents and the peace that they always wanted to instill in the world.
Character Appearance:
Serenity is a petite girl, though not at all frail. She stands five feet and three inches tall with a slim frame. She had always been rather strong for a girl, having to help her parents with the harvest and house chores, and as a Vampire that characteristic was accentuated, giving her a toned, athletic appearance. While not on the tall end of the spectrum, her body resembles that of a little model; long legs, hour glass figure, high cut cheek bones, and slender hands. Due to her continued practice of yoga, she carries herself with excellent posture and is very graceful.
As a human, Serenity's hair had been the color of wheat with red tints. Now, however, her hair is like liquid bronze - long, shimmering, straight, and rich in color. Her once green eyes are now a deep gold without a speck of crimson to them. Her features are sharp and exquisite, her teeth white and straight. Serenity's whole being emanates peace and love.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Agility
Charm and Persuasion
Wit and Intelligence
Understanding/Connection to nature
Unexpected Strength and Fierceness
Weaknesses:
Inability to harm/kill
Naivety/Giving others the benefit of the doubt
Angered quickly by prejudices, quick to react
Difficulty blending in after living alone for so long
Easily falls to act upon her emotions
Personality:
Serenity has a very gentle nature. While she is quick to react to situations or statements that offend or anger her, she is for the most part very calm and collected. She tried very hard not to stand out or be noticed, though having the extraordinary physique or a Vampire after having been very beautiful as a human had proved to make that difficult. She lived alone for almost two centuries before staying with other small nomadic covens for short times and because of that has some difficulty assimilating into new communities at first. Still, she adapts quickly to all situations and fits her versatile talents to meet her needs.
While usually very mild, Serenity easily succumbs to her emotions and will often act on a whim should the mood strike her. While she does not have out right mood swings, she is very true to her heart and how she feels and holds strongly to those beliefs. Her biggest downfall in this is when it comes to matters of the heart, as she had determined never to let anyone come close to her after realizing the life she'd left behind, and the amulet as a reminder. Because of this, she is often subjected to heart break for denying the fact that she may care for someone, and has learned not to feel anything resembling love or affection for anything outside of nature.
RP sample:
Serenity woke with a start, bolting upright on the leaf strewn ground and gasping as if she'd held her breath for a long, long time. She looked wildly around her in the growing dawn, searching for that nightmarish figure in the tree tops or behind a bush, though nothing stirred. Flashes of that awful night reeled through her mind like a broken film strip: a flash of fangs, glowing red eyes, awful, piercing feeling through the flesh of her neck, fire flooding her body, and then a scream of pain that was not hers. Her hand flew mechanically to the pendant hanging around her neck: a silver amulet emblazoned with the Triple Goddess in its center studded with Moonstone, the rune for protection engraved as a circlet around it. Once again, the amulet had saved her life.
Slowly, Serenity stood. Her body felt cold and stiff, as if she'd been asleep for a long time. She couldn't understand why she no longer felt the pain her attacker had inflicted, though was caught by an inexpressible thirst like she'd never felt before. Water, she thought, I need to find water. There has to be a stream in this forest somewhere... Serenity walked through the woods, searching for the water she surprised herself by hearing though she was unable to find it. She was so thirsty, she even imagined she could smell the cool water from this far away. Finally, the burbling stream came into view. With a sigh of relief, Serenity ran to it, feeling as if her feel flew over the ground.
Kneeling on the stream bank, Serenity cupped her hands into the cool water, lifted them to her lips and drank, though without feeling at all satiated. On her sixth attempt, a glimmer on the stream bed caught her eye. She lowered her hands to look, but it vanished. When she raised her hands again, however, the glimmer returned, and she realized that her hands were the cause of it. The morning sunshine fell on her skin now seeming crystalized, throwing small dots of rainbows across the soil. Water slipped through her fingers as she gawked as her skin, wondering if she'd hit her head while she was attacked. Feeling a surge of panic rise in her chest, she leaned over the water to see if all of her skin was the same, and almost leapt back, thinking there was someone else reflected in the water. Serenity hardly recognized herself, so changed. She would have welcomed her new appearance, if it were not for the addition of her irises now blazing a deep blood red. At the sight of that, she knew instantly what was wrong with her.
She'd listened to her mother's old tales about mythical creatures and had never thought much of them, though was now glad she'd paid attention to at least a couple. She remembered her mother speaking to her about one race of being more deadly and feared than all the rest. She knew then what her attacker was, and what he had turned her into. One word echoed through her mind as if being shouted at her from all directions, accusing her as the villagers had done to her Witch parents. Like them, one word described her perfectly, though she prayed that it was stereotyped negatively just as Witches were. She hoped she could not be as terrible as the stories, or else the word ringing in her ears would haunt her for the rest of eternity, her own monster haunting her for her undead life, ridiculing, screaming,
Vampire.
