Damienne felt edgy under Edward's stare, but not because he bothered her. It was more she just felt like she wasn't worth looking at, but he seemed to find her as captivating as she found him, which was an all too new and unexplored thing for her. She'd never been this captivated by someone before, let alone be the object of someone else's captivation. She smiled softly at him as he smiled to her, before he turned back to his distraction again. She felt a blush rise to her face when he said she had a nice name. "Yeah, right," she replied in a low tone, laughing nervously. She chewed her lip as she watched him again, noting the smile broadening over his features. It suited him. It was a smile that was on the borderline between down right adorable and just plain gorgeous. 'I'm so going to hell for this,' she thought to herself, offhandedly as she looked to the front of class again.
She turned to Edward as he spoke again, wanting to reply instantaneously, like a normal person would, but the way he was leant into his hand, fingers splayed across his cheek made her breath catch in her throat for a moment. She hadn't expect him to take to her so quickly and be so calm and natural around her. It was just weird. Though, he wasn't the one sat around, grinning like an idiot and thinking improper thoughts like she was. Well, if he was, he hid it a lot better than she was doing. She'd only just met him and look what she was doing? It would have been pathetic if anyone was paying attention and understood what was going on. 'Then again, pathetic describes me so well,' she thought, a little maliciously about herself before chewing her lip.
"Well, it's not so much in town really," she began to explain. "Hence why I drive," she continued, biting her lip more. "It's more in the forest at the edge of town. Nice and out of the way," she pressed on. "I think it's the sort of same area as where I've heard your house is," she commented. 'God, that sounds stalkerish or something...' she thought in panic. "Sorry, that was a little weird, wasn't it?" she questioned out loud. "I just remember someone mentioning the Cullen place being out of town, out of the way..." she carrried on, realizing she had to be putting her foot in it so badly right now. "It's like off the main road through the forest. There's only a few turn offs, so it's not that difficult to find, if you're used to the area, I wouldn't imagine," she finally finished with a soft smile.
She laughed lightly when Edward commented on it being a big family. "Yeah, it is. Family seemed important to my mom, you know?" she returned. She scowled slightly, shaking her head furiously when he asked if they all lived together. "Oh, hell no," she responded quickly. "The moment you are old enough to get out, you get out," she offered. "That's like policy in our family," she jested. "Not in a dictacted by the parents thing. It was more of a children's agreement or something," she explained. "I'm the last one, but my dad got me out of La Push, out of their lives," she went on, turning away from him now and lowering her sad eyes again. "Not that they had me in their lives anyway," she mumbled, scowling at herself. She was telling him far too much...wasn't she? She just felt...comfortable. Was that wrong?
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Edward raise a hand, but then seem to cut himself short and simply place it on his thigh. Maybe it had been wishful thinking for him to reach out and just simply touch her arm, even if it meant nothing, other than he was just being a nice guy. "I'm sorry," she offered, half turning to him, blinking furiously for a moment before looking up into his golden eyes, feeling an unusual wave of calm from just looking into those golden orbs. "I shouldn't bring everyone down like that. Just because I'm having a bad time..." she explained. "Well, I mean, I was having a bad time..." she went on in a lower tone, a smile playing across her lips. Yet another thing she had said out loud that she may regret later, but, right now, she found she could live with it.
She brought herself back to the present when Edward nudged her softly, noticing how he was scribbling something down in the neatest writing she'd possibly ever seen. Huddling over her notes, she copied down the work quickly too, embarrassed now by her own handwriting compared to his. An arm defensively covering her scrawl, she looked to him as he offered to do this work tonight. "Sure, whatever we get to first works for me," she replied politely, still appreciating the fact he'd just offered himself up to help her. She finished off the assignment note, hiding it away and sliding all of her things into her bag, pulling it onto both of her shoulders as Edward asked if he could walk her to her next class. She tilted her head, smiling broadly, dazzled by the crooked smile on his face.
Standing before him, she got the full affect of that smile and it was weirdly breathtaking. She chewed on her lip, still smiling. "Why, of course," she replied softly, stepping aside to let Edward lead the way. She could see the day being filled of little exchanges like that and she definitely wasn't going to complain. Edward certainly did have an air about him and she was finding it difficult to keep so damn quiet when all she wanted to do was out and ask him various questions. Not even out of wanting peace of mind, she just wanted some answers, but she barely knew him. Things would just fit into place over time, wouldn't they? "As long as I can walk you to your class after that," she said, playful tone flowing through her voice.

The blush that crept across the fine cheekbones of the femme to his right suited her, or so Edward thought to himself. The small amount of makeup that lined her eyes only brought out the intensity of them, while the lack of makeup on the rest of her perfect skin only showed to the world just how beautiful she was. Damienne might think she was going to hell, but Edward was already there, her his own personal form of torture. He could be so masochistic at times.
Perfect teeth nibbled at the pouty lip once more, drawing Edward's eyes as he looked at the vision before him. How he truly wished to feel that flesh between his own teeth. The heat of her blood warmed skin sinking into his ever frigid body, the feeling of life that pulsed through her surging through him with each heart beat. Nature still doing what it would, Edward's pupil's dilated at the thought, and he began to salivate, thinking how close he would be to her blood then, blood whose scent was so heavenly to him. Edward could feel the hunger stealing over him, creeping into his mind, down to the fiber of his being. Taking a deep breath the vampire tried to calm himself, the fingers of his hand curving inward to form a fist. It was because of this blatant need and desire that Edward knew he would never be able to act on what he felt with this girl.
Damienne was wrong once more with her thoughts. It was he who was the pathetic one. He who would never be able to control the need that nature had instilled within him after the change. It was he who sat beside her yearning to feel her pulse beat underneath his lips.
As she explained the way to her house, Edward made mental notes, nodding when it was appropriate. “Not at all.” He assured her, “Everyone in this town knows where we live.” the vampire said, placing emphasis on the we, indicating that his family and he were a sort of curiosity to the population. “There is no reason that you shouldn't know the same.” His smile became soft and understanding. “I don't think I'll have a problem finding it.” And he wouldn't. If she was anywhere near the house he could stand on his porch and inhale, tasting the scent of her on the wind and simply follow it through the forest. Pausing for a second Edward returned to what he was doing before speaking once more. “I drive a silver Volvo hatchback.” He stated, “Just so you know what to look for.”
Family couldn't have been more important to her mother than it was to Carlisle. It seemed to be the man's only addiction. Any time that the doctor feasibly could, it seemed he added more beings to the Cullen clan. Edward never knew when he got home who was going to be there next. Edward laughed a deep but quiet laugh at her response to them all living together. How different it would be if the Cullen's moved out when they were of age. It seemed the opposite with his family, people tended to join the clan when they became adults rather than leaving it. “My family lives together.” He explained with a lopsided smile. “It can be trying at times.”
Why Damienne's dad would want her to leave the reservation, Edward had no idea. He also didn't feel like it was a good time to ask. The scowl that mutilated her beauty and the furrow that found it's way into her brow let him know that it was a subject that required tact and feeling. Both were hard to find much less supply in one's first period biology class. Things of that matter were often better discussed over a few glasses of wine in the dark of the night. The girl beside him wasn't old enough to drink, and he hadn't had wine in more years than he could think. The Volturi had a blood wine that they concocted (leave it to the Italians) but it consisted of more blood than grape and Edward didn't think that Damienne would care for it very much. They would just have to talk in a more comfortable atmosphere without the added benefit of alcohol to assist them. Well, he could always get her drunk.
“No, no. Please don't apologize.” He said, holding his hands up in defense. “I should not have pried. It was not my place.” Edward spoke the words sincerely, sorrow in his eyes at the thought he could have brought any pain to her at all. The smile relieved him, and Edward sighed in relief, out of habit.
And then they were leaving class. Edward thinking how much easier it would be just to reach back and entwine her fingers with his, leading her through the halls that way. It would imply too much, not only to Damienne, but to the rest of the student body, and Edward didn't think that would be fair to his companion. Instead he made his way through the throngs, the other students moving out of his path quickly, all eyes on the duo as Edward held the class room door open and gestured in the direction that Damienne should turn. His feet fell into step with her own and soon they were on their way, making it to the next class in good time and settling in a pair of seats at the back of the room.
